So, Burks and Exum are starting, but the blame for slow starts will fall on Burks?

BOLD PREDICTION (I've made it before, but I'll keep saying it at appropriate times):
*Exum's leash will be shorter next year
*If Exum returns to the bench, then Hood and Burks will be the starting guards.
Exum was the starting PG on the team that finished the year great. Therefore if we start slow next year and Burks in the only change to the starting lineup why would fans look at Exum before Burks?

LOL @ trading Burks' albatross of a contract.
Has he truly earned it? He was doing well before his injury, but ten mil well? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he signed the extension, but only because I think he has another step he can take.

Who starts at the 2 will not be determined by contracts. Exum would likely have to either significantly regress or get injured to not be our starting PG for the entire year as we seem to have committed to him long-term. Burks will likely get the first opportunity to lock down the starting SG position, but his skill-set seems to make him a much better fit as the 6th man. Hood's 3pt shooting appears to compliment the starting unit better than Burks' ability to drive & create would. Either way, having two starting caliber players competing for one starting position is a positive.

Ok, sure there are questions at the PG and the C spot with Dante being so young and Neto maybe coming over, or whether Pleiss is any good, but there is a major decision that needs to be made: Who's at the 2?

Is Alec the future with his new cybernetic shoulder, or is his attitude better suited for a trade for someone a little less ball selfish? He is making enough with his new contract that he either starts or gets starter minutes as a sixth man off the bench for whoever he plays for.

The level of disrespect in this thread by the op is horrible. Burks should start, and never at any point have I ever viewed Burks as selfish. Think he is an underrated passer and want to see him tried again at pg. I think he can do it. With guys like Hayward Ingles Hood and Exum always playing next to him. I think it would work as all would share the playmaking and setting up the offense. A rotation of Exum Burks Hayward Ingles and Hood has me excited.

And there is no indication that Neto is coming over, and like last year won't be in summer league. No need to talk about that player. He's not a part of the future for the jazz. Burks is. Your lack of faith in Burks doesn't matter because the jazz have already shown they have that confidence in him by re-upping him with an extension.

Burks has paid his dues, and unlike Kantcer he has shown he wants to be here and earn his way and minutes on this team. Unlike Kantcer he never took plays off even when he didn't get the playing time he thought he should've had. He's one of the better players on this team, is a great teammate and locker room guy who wants to be here and succeed. Even as he was injured early for the season he fans shown the commitment he has for this team as he was at every game supporting his team and learning and grasping QS's offense.

I hope he plays his entire career here. He's one of my favorit players.

I hope

Burks is going to start.

If he doesn't get it fast, Hood will be breathing down his neck. If we start of slow or something, the scapegoat will probably be Burks.

As long as we are winning, it won't be an issue. If we start losing though, Burks probably gets benched for Hood.
I think it is going to be a lot harder to bench Burks mid-season and I think he is more suited as a 6th man than Hood is and I think Hood's skillset meshes better with the starting unit. And I'm pretty sure that opinion is nearly unanimous.

All the mock drafts have us taking 2 or 3s with both the first and second round picks. Could it be that a lot of guys that occupied those positions this last year are headed to parts unknown?
Why do you assume the people making the mocks know so much about what the Jazz FO plans to do. Go back through past drafts and then let me know if the Jazz are making their drafting decisions based on the mocks.

Also, I agree with everyone who has said that the poll choices are stupid.

What's wrong with keeping burks and using other pieces and assets to trade for a better player?

Dante Exum

however, just because we are at 12 doesn't mean we aren't trading for a move up like we did with try burke

What are you talking about? There were very few mocks that had the Jazz taking Exum, especially because almost all of them had him being selected before we picked. The Jazz pick of Exum is definitely not evidence that the mock drafters have insight into the overall strategy of the Jazz FO as the post I was responding to claimed.

Neither Burks nor Exum will be a scapegoat, because Utah is gonna kick ***. Also, even though most of us see Burks as a 6th man, I doubt Quin will start out with Hood starting over him. I think the starting spot will be AB's to lose.
