What's new

What is the worst call you made concerning the Utah Jazz?

I cant decide, my biggest screw up was at the draft either cheering for Trey or booing Hayward.

My biggest mistake on Jazzfanz was believing that there a big announcement would come next Thursday.

My biggest regret was handing out negative rep when I was upset.

I really thought that Favors/Kanter would be our front court for many years to come. However, in this case, I'm happy to be wrong.

I said multiple times to my work Jazz homey that Favors could become Marc Gasol and Kanter could become Zack Randolph and therefore the next Jazz coach should be Lionel Hollins, he who had coached those two so successfully in Memphis.

sigh.

I was glad we did not sign Wesley Mathews in free agency for the type of money Portland offered. And thought we would be better off with Raja Bell.

Hard to top that level of stupidity.

No one's going to admit it now, but I'm pretty sure that was the prevailing opinion at the time, like 90-10.

This has been said by many, but I also hated the Hayward pick. (I was a Paul George fan). I didn't think Hay had what it took.

Right after we signed him, I thought Boozer was going to great for a long time.

I thought Eric Maynor was going to be good, and I got wicked pissed that we lost him cuz of Harp's awful contract.

I called it when we should have drafted Boozer instead of Borchy. I knew Trey Burke would be at best Jameer Nelson. I didn't want Almond Joy. I was cool with drafting Hayward, cause I watched a Butler game while running on the treadmill and thought, "I'd be ok with that guy on the Jazz". I wanted Giannis and Rudy. I thought Corbin didn't communicate well enough to be an NBA coach even if he was smart enough. Oh, and I wanted Chris Paul over Deron.

This should probably be in the thread for "you called it."

Maybe my worst call was thinking MKG was going to be awesome.

way waaaay too high. I wanted Wes, and I know there were a lot of people like me.

Yeah I didn't think $5m per year or whatever it was we had to match was too much.

Having said that KOC did a great job of selling Raja Bell to us though and I think most of us bought it.

I know this is off-topic, but my biggest wiff in the history of sports was Drew Brees. Early in his career I thought he was a miserable chuck-and-ducker who would be done by the next game. Yup.

I was really excited about Luther Wright. I thought Blue Edwards would be a star. I wanted Ed Davis over Hayward. Couldn't stand Mark Eaton. I thought Klay Thompson and Khawi Leonard would be total busts.
