What is Wrong with Quin

I guess he was afraid of taking his star player off the court and making him mad. I'm afraid it may have cost him his job. Rudy got absolutely cooked that entire second half. Damn near every 3 pointer they made was Rudy's guy.
just a game ago, Quin was also cooked for taking Rudy off the floor and sub in Favs, who ended up with a Drtg of 140 or something like that. you just can't do anything right when there just isn't a clear solution available. And it is FO's job for making that solution available for your coach.

One factor to consider. When Mike Conley comes back, it makes the Jazz smaller defensively. So if Mike isn't make any headway on offense, the Jazz can also struggle on defense.

I don't think the Jazz can go forward with a backcourt as small as Conley/Mitchell playing together.

We are trying to zig when others are zagging.

Clips win because they gave us different looks. Our gameplan was hoping DM can do it all himself.

100%

DM needs to be PG so we can get another true 3/D wing

the future with Conley going forward is definitely the sixth man/backup point role and move Donovan to the point guard spot, cuz not resigning Conley would've been disastrous but so is overpaying him and trusting his hamstring with those major minutes.

Yeah, Quin needed to try something different but he really didn’t have many good options in terms of players to pick from. But it was clear Rudy was gassed and totally exposed. How we, if the Jazz went small the horrible perimeter defense would have been on full display, and the fact they cannot rebound.

I do wonder why he didn’t try Ersan. He seemed to play pretty well in his regular season minutes. And if we were unwilling to play him why did we sign him?

We will run it back. Take 4th during the season and lose in the first round. Mitchell is as good as gone. We can’t compete against large market teams who get players to join them for a pittance to have a chance to win a chip. Jazz will never have that luxury and therefore will struggle to get back to a finals

I think Quinn can pick things apart as well as the best of them. He was able to counter for the first half after 4 games being stumped, but couldn't do it in real time during the second half. I think he needs more time to formulate his responses than the game allows. Probably good to have, but perhaps not the right guy to have the keys. Trouble is demotions don't generally work due to the emotional nature of humans.

This is just false. If he could pIcK tHiNgS aPaRt we wouldn't have had the 2nd half we did. He choked. He choked a 3-1 lead and a 25 point lead. He's a clown and needs to go. As is this is the ceiling.

I am a Quin fan, but I won’t argue, he ***** his pants on the biggest stage. I would venture to say he’s the first coach ever to blow a 3-1 and 2-0 lead in consecutive playoffs…

Maybe this is why Alex Jensen did not take the U of U job
Maybe he knows he gets Jazz job if Quin gets fired

This happens with any other franchise or program and that coach is gone. I doubt Utah does anything here with Snyder.

I'm sitting here numb still blown away that Rudy didn't come off the court in that record 2nd half.

I just don't get it. Such stubborn coaching.

I need some time to reflect on this, but I keep coming back to one impression: the Jazz are soft.

Mike Conley is not physically imposing. You can say that Chris Paul is undersized, like Mike is, but Chris is a tough, bulldog-type defender. Mike isn't much of a factor on defense. I don't think you can put him in a closing rotation for that reason alone. Mike isn't as quick as he used to be. He isn't long or very strong. Certain matchups just leave him overmatched defensively.

And I'm not sure how he had six (6) turnovers tonight. Surely, he didn't come back to give the ball away like that.

I think we play intellectual basketball... we allow mid range shots, commit euro fouls the second a fast break could happen, and we love the smell of our own farts. I think some of these things make for lazy habits. We prefer moar shooting to toughness and physicality. Physicality means guys get free throws and our spreadsheet says that is bad.

I said last offseason we need more “do ****” players... guys like Bruce brown that just get steals blocks deflections loose balls and play defense. We prefer guys like JC and Bogey who are just scorers and nothing else. It’s a roster problem but also a coaching problem... Brantley or Oni might have been that type of guy... Shaq could have as well... we prefer Niangs. Look at what Nash did with Brown... guy was a pg/wing and he uses him as a big... we took Shaq and said he’s a pg. never tried him as a stopper on the perimeter. Would we have done the same with Brown? Coach or DL... IDK but there needs to be a change. DL had the more obvious mistakes imo.

I honestly thought Brantley could have had an impact on this series. Against a team that switches, he can lower his shoulder and get deep in the paint. What happens next is anyone's guess, but he can score 1-on-1.

I thought late in the 3rd quarter put Brantley, Forrest and Morgan in. It would have changed the look for awhile and perhaps forced that out of control freight train to slow down.
