I don't really want to pile on another Cotton fan, either. I would love to see him as the starter and the Jazz win 50+ games. Nobody would be happier at that outcome then myself. And maybe that actually happens. I just think he has to start by making the roster first. If he does that, he'll be up to the challenge. One step at a time. Few guys play for one team. Whatever team or teams he plays for, fans will be glad he's on their team. I believe that 100%. It doesn't really matter in the long run, start or bench. He'll be appreciated. He'll do fine.

What Stifle Tower was saying got me to thinking about the whole topic of why fans back different players. A lot of layers to that. The players are competing, and to a degree fans compete for them as well. And for so many reasons, ranging from no real personal investment to a lot of personal emotional investment. Because this is the best guy for the team to because I want this guy to succeed and he's my guy. The two don't have to be mutually exclusive, but only the players can decide who's going to win the fan competition. Anyway, time to hit the sack, it's an interesting topic though, just as a study in competition.

Windhorst is reporting the Bulls and Derrick Rose have already begun their breakup.

I tried to work a few trades in the machine, the Jazz can't clear enough space to bring him in though. Unless Burks, Favors or Hayward's involved, and that isn't happening.

What are you crazy, trading our core for Rose -- there's a reason they're splitting, and it's on Rose, so if Chicago is giving up on him, why would the Jazz trade their future for him?

It doesnt work. I checked a bunch of scenarios, 3way trades, I don't see how it'd be feasible, he's owed like 50 mil over the next 2 seasons, I doubt they move him.. Thought it was worth posting though, it's interesting in a basketball sense. He'd work better with Rudy and Favors than the bigs they have in Chicago IMO.

Not advocating trading the future for him though, at-all. I'm all for hording draft picks..

Why the hell would you even want that loser ??

Well, It doesn't work and I don't know the particulars of his health issues - contract and all that aside.

If the Jazz were to make the playoffs, having a healthy Derrick Rose at PG would probably be a really good thing, especially if they closed the season strong.. it'd be a drastically different look, certainly enough to affect the betting lines. I'm sure it'd change the perception of the team nationally too..

I think his game is more suited to play with bigs like Rudy and Derrick, than Gasol and Mirotic..

If they want to move Rose they're going to have to give assets. Nobody wants an ultra injury-prone player who makes $20,000,000 a year and they're not going to trade any good contracts to make it happen unless multiple draft picks are involved.

None of those are possible for this season.

Think PKM was joking? Raptors not trading Lowry. Same with Conley. Maybe a chance for Teague though if ATL is in the belief that Schroeder can be better. Just mad Philly did not cut McOnnell.

Brandon Knight.

Can spread the floor, is the same age as our core, already a proven scorer, good length, can play the 1 and 2 (which would be especially important for when Exum comes back).

Not sure what it would take to get it done. ****ing hell I hate Kanter, we should have just taken Knight to begin with.

I think Steph Curry could be a real asset in Utah. If we could get him without giving up our core id be all for it.
