What should Jazz do with Millsap?

I'm open to trading Millsap for the right deal-- but it has to be a good one.

I want Favors starting more than anything else right now. We're not winning anything this season, period. Millsap coming off the bench will make our second unit a lot stronger, and Favors starting will prepare the franchise for the future.

In that case (if we get a good deal), do you prefer Jefferson to be traded or Millsap?

The Jazz could always start Favors and Millsap, and bring Big Al off the bench to help an anemic second unit.

I am a huge fan of Millsap. The more I think about it the less I am wanting to trade him. I love what Sap brings to the team. I think he is an important player as far as chemistry goes. He works his butt off. That is the type of the player the Jazz need on a young team. Besides, Kanter has not proven anything yet. Favor still has a lot to prove. I would have a starting line-up with Harris, Hayward, Sap, Favors and Jefferson. As the season progresses I would adjust the line-up as needed based upon match-ups and individual improvement. When Jefferson leaves the game, Millsap can swing to PF and Kanter or Favors can play either center or PF. THe best part of this team is the versatility. I wouldn't make any sudden moves when we have too many young question marks. What if Okur can't play? or Kanter is two years away? You trade Millsap and the front court could get thin really quick. The Red Sox thought they were going to have a ton of pitching and then injuries hit. It is never a bad thing to have too much talent. The Jazz need to just be patient. I believe things will work themselves out or at least the choice to trade or keep him will be easier after we see what Kanter and Favors can consistently do.

I like Millsap. I think he can play the three. But it might not work. I think Millsap can play the four and start too. Last year I think it did not look so good because it didn't work well with Jefferson. Millsap has looked good next to okur. I say trade Jefferson. Millsap might have to go though. It's favors time now. And if Millsap can't handle that and can't play the three. Then I guess he needs to go. I would like to see favors and Millsap start at the 4 and 5. That could work maybe

why do so few people float this out as a possibility? ****ing infuriating.

Yes, I, for one, think Jefferson should play the bulk of his minutes in the second-unit where his offensive repertoire would be more dominant and his defensive liabilities slightly masked. I'll let other people argue about whether he should start or not....

I have been on the trade Jefferson bandwagon for a while. It's not that I don't like the guy. He is a stand up guy. My issue with him is his MN mentality. He thinks that once he gets the ball it's his job to shoot no matter what. He seemed to never figure out that their are other capible scorers on the floor with him. All he had to do was run the play and find the open man.

Sap on the other hand runs plays and passes well. He plays better defense IMO as well.

I also think Millsap can excel at the 3. Can you imagine how tough our front line will be with those 3 in there? Everyone's always talking about how they think Millsap will be exposed guarding the opponent's SF. What about the reverse? Their 3 trying to guard Millsap!?! He'll EAT THEIR LUNCH.

I think the fact that everyone's doubting his ability to do it has / will have the effect that's pushed him this far. Draft me in the second round? I'll show you. Boozer playing over me? What a joke. Step back.

He'll do great at the 3.

What a line-up. Hayward, Millsap, Jefferson, and Favors.

I think that Milsap will be given the chance to start at the pf position this year, but eventually he will have to either start as the sf or be our sixth man. I just hope he can accept that role, cause milsap as a sixth man once favors and kanter get rolling makes us contenders again.

If we are going to trade anyone, we need to wait till next year, speaking of the bigs. We need to see how Favors and Kanter progress, and how Memo plays if he plays.

If Kanter and Favors show well ether Millsap or Jefferson can be used to improve our draft status in a strong draft.

Agreed or at least wait until the trade deadline! Lets see how these young ones do before we give them the keys to the car. We are lucky that we have this option, most teams don't when they are rebuilding.

Big Al doesn't play as good as he is supposed to play and i am sure he will never fulfill his potential

Jefferson's contract wouldn't bring equal value. He's a bit overpaid for what he brings.

With the shortened season, the more players who already know the basics of the system, the better. Keep them both, get Kanter mins whenever possible, and in two years when everyone but our four rooks/sophs are off the books, we decide who stays and who goes.

Two seasons isn't that long to have a logjam at the 4/5 spot. By that time we will know if Kanter is a bust and if Favors is the real future at the 4.
