What should we do in the off season?

Here is what the team is shaping up to be for next season. Tomic could always change, but it sounds like the Jazz really want him and is one of the reasons why Kanter was traded. With how the roster is right now we really have 10 players that are young(NBA experience and ageish) and need time to develop. The Jazz are really high on Exum as well and I see him as the starting point guard for next season.

So what should the Jazz do this off season? From how the roster is constructed I don't really see any room for FA to be added, without taking playing time from other players that need it. If anything we need upgrades at PG or SG, but then again we have young guys that could fill that need.

The Jazz could always draft this years draft pick (and/or one of our young guys) for either a nice veteran player or a young guy with talent (middleton, etc)

I'm not sure what I would want the Jazz to do either. If we stick with this roster I can see us playing for the 8th spot in the playoffs. What do you guys think? Should we go after any FA? Should we let Booker go? Should we trade our draft pick?

PG - Dante/Trey
SG - Alec/Rodney
SF - Gordon/draft pick/Ingles
PF - Favors/Booker/Evans
C - Rudy/Tomic

Trade Trey and draft pick for a PG that can be a catch and shoot PG that doesn't try to do too much.
bring Neto and Tomic over

Bring Alec Burks off the bench the way Manu has done with the Spurs.
Let Rodney Hood start to spread the floor for Hayward and the bigs.

Interesting ideas. Do you have any PGs in mind that could fit that description? I could see Hood eventually starting. He would need to get healthier. I would guess that Burks is starting at the start of the season as well though.

I'm thinking we could offer some money to middleton then our team would look like:

PG - Dante/Trey
SG - Alec/Middleton
SF - Gordon/Rodney/Ingles
PF - Favors/Booker/Evans
C - Rudy/Tomic

Solid Bench, a lot of different line up possibilities. Then I don't know what we would do with our draft pick. Maybe go big? Maybe trade it?

Trade Burke for Snell on Chicago.

Sign a vet PG.

Bring in a backup big.

Draft BPA.

Exum/Vet PG/Neto
Hayward/Burks/Millsap
Snell/Hood/Ingles
Favors/Booker
Gobert/Koufos

Toss in a draft pick. This would be a dangerous team next year. Playoff bound.

Interestingly enough, Alec was actually way more efficient when he played with the starters than when he played with the 2nd unit. I don't think he's reached a point in his career yet where he can carry an offense efficiently as the #1 option. As much as we love Alec and think he can be very good, let's not forget he still uses a possession below the league average.

So what ended up happening to our draft pick? Do you have us trading the pick. No Rookie/Potential stud in the rotation.

That's why I said "Then I don't know what we would do with our draft pick. Maybe go big? Maybe trade it?"

If Tomic doesn't come over, than we would draft a big.

I think in the off season we should try to improve our team in order to get closer to winning a championship.

Snell? Seriously? I dont think that would be a smart idea.

I dont think drafting Snell would be a good idea. I like our team the way it is. All we need to do is bring in a good C, and a better shooter on the wings. Playoff bound.

Exum/Burke
Middleton/Burks
Hayward/Hood/Draft pick
Favors/Booker/Evans
Gobert/Tomic

So, you'd pay Middleton max money over Snell on a rookie deal? No thanks. By the way, Snell is a terrific shooter and a dedicated defender. In Feb, he shot 58% and 52% from three.

I think it's now fairly obvious the Jazz crucial needs for next season are a backup center and a solid backup point guard.

I feel bad for Trey and I like the guy and his attitude. I'm just worried that he's not an NBA player. the time for the Jazz to go for it is now and I think our wings are worth betting on. Trey? Unfortunately not.

Trade Trey to GS for Shaun Livingston and bring over Tomic.

Playoffs.

Go after a good vet pg. Not Jarrett Jack, but a Jarrett Jack type player. Great backup, but would be ok starting for stretches if there was injuries.

Get a 3rd/4th big that can play center.

Consider Green, or Middletton but both will probably be too expensive.
