What Should We Do With Rubio?

Should Rubio go to the bench?

Why is the fanbase so enamored with the idea of trading Rubio? His trade value isn't high and you won't likely get equal value back. His contract is more than reasonable for what he provides on the court. He and Donovan can play together so it's not like he's taking Donovan's minutes. He's not a problem for the team in the locker room or off the court and he's a team player on the court. People just need to chill. He's new to the team and a lot of our key players have missed a substantial amount of games. Give him and the team time. He'll be fine.

MAYBE you could blame some of the TO's on adjusting to a new system. But bad shooting is bad shooting.
Can he and Donovan play together? I suppose. But imagine Mitchell at PG with a true 3&D player at SG - someone who shoots 40% on 3's instead of <30%.

Cause so far he has sucked. Low assists, high turnovers, horrible shooting, poor defense.

I still stand by my comments though. What's the benefit in trading him over letting him play the season out to see if things improve?

The fact that we won’t be pressured to start him, especially when Gobert returns.

Cause I want to win games (especially when gobert comes back) and make the playoffs and play our best players. Rubio has made us worse this season so I would prefer to bench or trade him.

Because you open up the PG position for Donovan and can then evaluate a starting tandem of Mitchell and Hood. And the Jazz get rid of $14M in cap space for next year.

The future of the Jazz is Mitchell with the ball out top, threatening to break the defense down with a drive to the hoop. Rubio can't do that because opponents can just play off. Ricky might have a game or two of good shooting, followed by 5-6 bad ones.

If he could play consistently like last game, he would be fine. Here's the problem and it is something he could fix. He is making too many bad decision for a PG of his experience and supposed caliber. And what is frustrating to me, that he gets into these periods when he takes one ill-advised shot or makes one ill-advised pass, after the another, and doesn't stop until Quin takes him out. This has often changed the momentum of games. What is he thinking? He's not Allen Iverson and trying to be like him isn't going to work for Rubio. Just hustle on D, hit the open man (be a pass-first PG, Ricky, because that's what you're good at -- not shooting) and take care of the ball, and Rubio will be fine. In other words, he needs to play within himself and stop trying to do things he's not capable of.

Well, if he could play consistently like last night he would be more than fine, he would be an All-Star.

But you're right, he needs to stick to what he does best, which is directing the offense, taking care of the ball and busting his *** on D. After all the **** he's gone through in his personal life I'm happy he's freed himself and is eager to enjoy everything that life has to offer, but I don't like how that mentality has translated to his game. I said it a few weeks ago and I'll say it again: this is just not the Ricky Rubio that some of us have known since he was a 14yo kid, he's devolved into a different type of player and someone whose game I have a much harder time enjoying, even if I'm still a big fan because I know what he can do on the court.

He's always been better as the seasons go on, so here's hoping he goes back to his old self with the new year, and then improves on it.

PS: And by the way: happy 2018 everyone.

that would open the floor big time.

I would trade him for one cup of Injured Gordon Haywards tears straight across. He's a joke. Jazz offense is ranked in the top 4 in the league with him on the bench at nearly 110 per 100 possessions. When he's on the court, were ranked #25 around 94 per 100 possessions. Math doesn't like. Rubio sucks. Trade him for a new barbeque grill. He's trash + garbage ×'s mistake ÷ Pie = Rubio. He couldn't assist a teammate if they were stranded on whore island and borrowed Warren Buffets credit card for a night.

I think that at this point you let him play out the season, work with him over the summer and evaluate what you have. If he hasn't made major strides he should be traded. I also wouldn't hate the idea of trading him earlier. I just don't think you will be getting much value for him if you trade him right now. Benching him would mean that you think there is something to play for this season. I think that with Rudy's injuries this is a lost year overall. I'd prefer the Jazz stealth tank by trading Favs/others and see if you can get Rudy/Rubio to work in a better lineup for them.

My Jazz are rolling in 2k18, got Frank Mason dunking and hitting 3s

Wow, those are some pretty eye opening stats.

Can you just admit that you're a hater? Half of your posts are about how much Rubio sucks. Go find a hobbie, buy a big puzzle or learn to fly drones or something, there's more out there than hating on Rubio believe it or not.
