What Should We Do With Rubio?

Should Rubio go to the bench?

Holy hell. Am I the only one screaming at the TV every time this POS re-enters the game? I'd rather have Captain Crunch and Jamal Tinsley back than continue to watch Rubio. -25 in 23 minutes tonight. Hell when Rubio was not in the game we dominated the Nuggets. And this is in a game where he actually shot decent. Too bad he doesn't care about protecting the ball and seems incapable of defending a guy man to man. I'm done with Rubio. If we can sucker somebody into giving us a 2nd round pick for him we should take it.

Can we "Raja Bell" Rubio for the next year and a half? Maybe that's the best way to deal with him at this point.

I think that at this point you let him play out the season, work with him over the summer and evaluate what you have. If he hasn't made major strides he should be traded. I also wouldn't hate the idea of trading him earlier. I just don't think you will be getting much value for him if you trade him right now. Benching him would mean that you think there is something to play for this season. I think that with Rudy's injuries this is a lost year overall. I'd prefer the Jazz stealth tank by trading Favs/others and see if you can get Rudy/Rubio to work in a better lineup for them.
He should be traded now for anything we can get. Worst trade the Jazz have made since getting Trey Burke. Maybe even worse than that.

When Rubio is in the game:nobody can get to the basket, nobody can make an off ball cut to the basket, and nobody can get open for a good look. Because he is worse on offense than Ronnie Brewer and nobody bothers guarding him.

Unfortunately Burks is starting to mimic Rubio as well.

Can you just admit that you're a hater? Half of your posts are about how much Rubio sucks. Go find a hobbie, buy a big puzzle or learn to fly drones or something, there's more out there than hating on Rubio believe it or not.

i hope you enjoy watching the chinese league soon. Thats where rubio is headed.

There are 3 guys on the team I think need to go.
1)Rubio
2)Burks
3)Hood

Rubio and Burks suck. Hood is okay but he's not worth the money he'll get in the off season.

I know a lot want to trade Favors because of his FA this off season. But if we do that we are full on tanking. Favors is our 3rd best player by a wide margin. And though Gobert is probably better Favors is not as far behind him as a lot think.

Rubio should be traded for anything aside from a multi-year contract(s). More so due to fit than talent (Burks as well).

I'm not too familiar with our current/future cap situation but a small-market franchise can't afford to miss out on the (legitimately possible) potential to add a talent, despite the immense financial risk, of J.Parker's caliber for purely cap space due to any contract(s) outside of DM/Gobert's.

Favors should also go for any long-term asset (if possible). I'd prefer he stayed as our reasonably priced 3rd big man but that's unlikely & not worth risking the possibility of adding an additional future asset.

Hood, as well as Exum (& even Ingles to a much lesser extent), should only be moved if it brings that missing "3rd piece". Which also seems unlikely. Exum & Hood have enough potential, youth, fit, reason to believe they'll be affordable, etc to justify potentially losing them to RFA. (Don't overpay for either)

Ingles is our "James Posey" (championship caliber 5th/6th man), reasonably priced long-term, provides (necessary) elite outside shooting, &, mentality-wise, aligns perfectly with Snyder, Mitchell, Gobert/team culture. He is part of the long-term core IMO (barring packaging him for a star).

Mitchell & Gobert are 2/3 of a championship caliber foundation, QS is a championship caliber coach, & Ingles is championship caliber supporting player. We also have a young duo potentially capable of eventually attracting high-end talent.

But if we're going to have a shot at eventually winning a title, we can't afford to miss out any potential opportunities(/not increase our odds as much as possible) to find that necessary 3rd star. All other (future) supporting pieces can be addressed down the road.

IMO this team has a very legitimate opportunity to win a title(s) in the future but only if we maximize all non-longterm core assets & create a culture that attracts/retains top-tier talent (as much as possible).

If we could trade him and a 2nd for an expiring, I would do it. That's where I am with him.

Then, if we traded Favors and or Joe to take back a bad contract for a worthy asset, we will have more flexibility.

The question is this - does any team want or have a need for Rubio? Anybody?

Yep I'd do that. Burks has gone back to being a ball hog no defense player again. The few game stretch he had earlier in the year has disappeared. Add to that now he can't throw the ball in the ocean from a boat and he just is not worth having anymore either.
Last night he was actually amazing on defense. He did shoot a bit too much (3-10 in 20 minutes) and his shot has been off. But last night his defense was fantastic and he is always crashing the boards and playing with high energy.
The jazz played the nuggets even while burks was on the court last night.
The jazz are +25 on the season while burks has been on the court.

His shot has totally disappeared as of late though. You are correct about that.

Rubio and Long to PHX

Monroe to SAC

Hill to UTA

Burks, Exum and Bradley to CHI

Mirotic and Pondexter to UTA

Hood and Favors to NO

Johnson to WAS

Cousins to WAS

Porter to UTA

———————-

Hill / Neto
Mitchell / Ingles
Porter / Thabo
Mirotic / Jerebko
Gobert / Udoh

An alternative deal to including WAS is if you take the same parts going there and divert them to Boston and take back Hayward. Of course, NOP may just say they want Hayward.

We better be getting some 1st round picks. Trading Hood, Exum, Rubio and Favors and just getting Porter and Mirotic (who has an option next year I believe) is not getting a good return.

Getting Hill, too, plus a lot of addition by subtraction. The only people we’re really losing are Hood and Exum and you’d have to ask yourself if you’d want to pay Hood what he’s going to get. Would rather have Otto Porter at $24 than Hood at $19.

You are right, I'm a hater. But one thing I am right about, as a Jazz player, he sucks very badly.

I'd rather have Exum and Favors. I think they are both options to re-sign. It's too much. When I said first round picks I meant 2, or 1 likely lottery pick.
