That's why he signed a three year deal!

Boozer takes the heat for his remark, D-Will gets no heat for his. I personally see Deron's as worse. D-Will threatened to leave, Boozer just wanted more money, like any sane person.

Wow do you miss the point. Deron CHOSE TO STAY WITH THE JAZZ, knowing they were not championship caliber yet, then said he wants to see the front office get us there, which is perfectly reasonable. When he had a chance to extend he never said "I am opting out I am getting a ring (raise) regardless". He has been the leader through it all. He is chasing NBA success not money, and he threw his lot in with us to help us get there. Boozer's first comment when he could have been negotiating an extension was "mo money mo money mo money" then he bailed. Hardly leadership caliber. Hardly comparable to Deron.

Yeah, he totally put the heat on the FO after we lost franchise shooting guard Ronnie Brewer and made that dumb comment. Boozer's comment was true, cocky but true, and OFF the record. D-Will's comment was unnecessary, and ON the record. I guarantee you that money is Deron's top priority as well. It would be mine too if I was in the NBA.

You're foolish if you believe this about anybody in the league. The only players who aren't chasing money are people on the downside of their careers (like Shaq and Malone with the Lakers) and Ron Artest.

Another point to remember is that Deron's comments came in the wake of the Ronnie Brewer trade. D Will called Brewer his "little brother" and made it clear he felt the trade did not make us better (he was wrong). He was mad that we traded his friend and that he thought we were worse for it, so he lashed out because he wants this team, the Jazz, to compete.

Boozer, in perfect calm with no impetus, stated very clearly that where he played had only to do with money, and nothing else. No relationship he formed, no player he played with, no championship aspirations had anything to do with it. That is not a good chemistry guy.

Here is a good read. While he makes it clear he wasn't a big fan of the changes last summer, he hardly sounds like a guy who is "opting out regardless".

Epic fail thread? How so?
There is a decent chance Deron leaves.

If he wants a real run at a title it probably is elsewhere.
Why wouldn't he want to play for a team with a better chance? A better owner? A better city?

On the other hand he may stay. He is a god here, the face of the francise, and we are always going to be good, but never great.
He'll be a max player here, all star, and get his own statue if he stays.

I think it's 50/50 right now.

Whats more important to Williams?

Accolades or a title?

Deron will bolt at some point. The question is will he make a title run on a team in his 30's or will he leave sooner.
If he signs another deal with us, he'll guarantee himself a spot in the rafters, and a spot among the Jazz all time greats.

I have no doubts he'll leave to make a title run with another team. Let's just hope he chooses to wait like Malone did later in his career (something I had no
problem with, and actually supported).

The one thing that we have going for us: Deron is stubborn, and has a huge ego. He choose us a few years ago, this is his team. Stockton and Malone couldn't do it. He wants to be the one to do it.

But to quit on the Jazz like Lebron quit on Cleveland would be a huge blow to his ego.

He wants to bring a championship to Utah, I just don't think he can; not by himself.

I don't see him ramming his head on the wall year after year, coming up short, and frankly I wouldn't expect him to.

We need to be clear about this: we are *at least* a SG (and backup) and SF (and backup) away **coughSJaxcough** from sniffing legitimate contention. Down low, we need height or shooting (or both, really). Sign and trade Milsap for Marc Gasol? Eh? EH?

I love Millsap. But we are just not going to contend with this team. And Millsap/Miles is probably our best trading pieces. I don't see teams springing for AK or Bell.

He's going to bolt for Orlando, or Minnesota.
Did any of you see he is on that Disney show, Suite Life on Deck, with Howard and Love.
If you watch the episode, he will make the official announcement there.

And if Deron "bolts" then **** him. He is not the Utah Jazz, and the franchise isn't going to sink itself just to make him happy. And all you chicken littles can follow him to Dallas, or LA, or wherever. We will move on without him.

Orlando. So he can be on more crappy Disney shows like this

I dont think that its quite time to panic about D-Will leaving the Jazz. But I definately think that if they would like to keep him here, than they better do what it takes to surround him with winning material. Them blowing a 9th round draft pick on guys like Gordon Hayward are not going to cut it. Gordon is a great player, but he was a 19th pick at best. - Thats history. But in a couple years I think we may be finding that Deron Williams and the Utah Jazz will also be history because of the organizations decision making. Larry Miller was extrodanairy because he got to know the players wants and needs, and then try to do the best to surround them with exactly that. Example (Stockton & Malone wanted a dynamic shooter; in comes Hornacek) I cant see anyone from the Jazz organization of today giving a rats *** about what Deron and Millsap would like to have around them. Im pretty sure they wouldnt say, "get a medi-ocre under experienced kid from butler U." Think about it!

I'm pretty sure that Xavier Henry, Cole Aldrich, Larry Sanders or even Aminu wouldn't really change this team's fortunes. Losing Matthews hurts a bit more than the draft. Lets see what the Jazz can pull off with AK's salary off the books and Okur as an expiring. Maybe the Jazz can actually attract a FA to go with D.Will.

If I'm New York, I might make a run at D.Will though.
