What's new

What time is deadline today?

Ross Siler: Jazz save $1 million this season by dealing C.J. They save $4 million combined this season and next if they can make a Raja miracle deal.
Of course both of these assume trading them for nothing. If they have to take back salary, they don't save as much.

Fegan hasn't, but teams aren't going to wait, and Dwight can find another agent.

I was under the impressiont hey both had to sign or it is worthless. So until they have that paper with both signatures in hand anything can happen.

Dan Fegan is not going to sacrifice his client and $2 million on the table for principle. The guy is a glory and $ hound and has absolutely no loyalty to anything else.

Then until Dwight gets him to sign or fires him, gets another agent and gets that agent to sign Dwight can still opt out.

Watching this Howard Drama play out I am reminded that this could've been D-Will in Utah. I think D-Will is smarter than Howard and would've handled it better, but still drama.

I mostly enjoyed Deron the player, but KOC did the right thing.

I agree.

There's two hours to the deadline. If something's going to happen, there isn't time to waste, at least if you're not one of those teams totally relying on Dwight. The Jazz, Spurs, and T-Wolves aren't.

Oh I agree if you are going to make a move you have to do it. I am just saying Dwight could go back on his word a month from now without that agent signature. Nothing is official till it is official. See CP3 trade to Lakers.

(HAHAH at you Lakers. You suck)

Edit: Dwight Howard has waived the early termination option in his current contract and will remain with the Orlando Magic for the 2012-13 season, his manager told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday. "He is giving up all of his leverage and his free agency in a show of commitment to his team and most importantly the fans of Orlando," said Kevin Samples, Howard's manager. Orlando Sentinel

Appears that the magic got that paper with the signatures they need.

Sounds like that deal isn't happening, or at least Howard isn't in it. Someone in another thread cited 1280's sources.

Perhaps. Brewer to Memphis was an 'unsubstantiated rumor', though. At any rate, that's just a set of teams as an example. The Lakers, Nets, Magic, and Mavericks are the only teams directly involved in the Howard madness. Teams cannot afford to wait for this bull crap to play out to finality that don't have that direct interest.

Well, with our TPEs and our wing-chips, the Jazz were in a good position to be a third team in a Dwight deal. I was thinking KOC would want to have all his assets on the table if such a thing was going down. Now that it isn't, I'm expecting him to go back to past negotiations and pull smaller triggers.

**** needs to get done. No doubt.

Things starting to happen...

Adrian Wojnarowski: Nets are close to sending Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams and a protected 1st round pick to Portland for Gerald Wallace, league sources tell Y! Twitter

Turns out Arenas could be Plan B. Griz still seriously considering trades for O.J. Mayo, sources tell the CA

With less than three hours until the trade deadline, two new suitors have emerged for Jamal Crawford. The Los Angeles Lakers and New Jersey Nets have expressed interest in Crawford, according to sources close to the situation. The two teams have contacted the Portland Trail Blazers and talks will continue up until the deadline

According to inside sources Gordon Freeman and Drexler Sabonis any trades won't happen until just before the deadline because the Jazz players that other teams want--are not the other teams first choice.

BAD NEWS for those hoping for a trade:

David Locke: With this limited time till deadline going to be very hard to pull off deals on the backside of other deals.

OK, I'm calling it quits. When I get up in 4-5 hours, I hope to see that all (or at least some) of my trade deadline dreams have come to fruition. If not I'm going to feel really stupid for staying up this late to monitor nothing.
