You can't see the Spiral Jetty on your way to Wendover. Many years you can't see it at all. For a decade or more Lake will swallow the jetty. Spiral Jetty is on the North side of the lake. It's got a peaceful quiet and haunted kind of old west Sagebrush feel up there. You drive a little further down the old railroad grade Road and there's a rock that looks like an elephant. Drive a little further still you'll come to Kelton, Town who's only remains is the rotting and neglected final resting place of the town's most tired residents. Some of the recommendations are iffy. The Spiral Jetty is cool to look at as you drive past on the way to Wendover but I can't see making a day of it just to see it. If you are going to drive out to see the jetty you may as well go a bit further and see The Tree of Utah.

If you are going to do a day trip I would recommend Cascade Springs up American Fork canyon.

I like the Red Butte Garden rec but would add that it is a spectacular garden display and should be visited during the day as well as catching a concert at night.
