What to do with Millsap

I like your idea. This would be an intelligent way to evaluate what we have. But KOC doesnt make the most intelligent decisions, unfortunately.

Well, I wouldn't say that. He did draft Gordon Hayward (huge plus). And he basically traded Carlos Boozer for Al Jefferson (fantastic). And he did trade Deron Williams for Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, and two possible lottery (one top 3) draft picks (could be absolutely astounding at the end of the day). He also found Paul Millsap in the second round (I still don't know how that happened). I have to give him some credit for that. Overall, I think that he has actually done a pretty good job considering he is trying to make a small-market franchise like the Utah Jazz competitive against the L.A. Lakers and Miami Heat's of the world.

i like millsap, he can come off the bench and contribute a lot. I think we should trade jefferson and get rid of his overloaded contract (depending on the draft pick)

Disagree, Jefferson> Millsap. Yes Millsap makes less but Jefferson can play either PF/C even if he is undersized at center. I would much rather have a rotation of Kanter, Favors, Jefferson then Millsap, Favors, Kanter. Plus Millsap is just 2 undersized, if Utah drafts Kanter at 3 Utah might actually have the bigs to throw against the Lakers and Dallas. Also look what Jefferson brought to Utah the pump fake, Let him teach the younger guys Kanter/Favors, some post moves and the pump fake.

and I really think Utah will be one of the most active teams during the draft. Well then, Portland and Minny

He should not start but he should be the 6th man. His production versus his salary is such that trading him makes no sense unless you draft someone who you believe can immediately give 25-30 productive minutes a night. I don't see that happening.

If he doesn't get the hint that you want him back to the bench mid-way through the year, trade him.

If he will become our Jason Terry or Lamar Odom, keep.

I think that Millsap coming off the bench with Jimmer and Miles would be extremely exciting! But I think he wants to start. I still would push for Robin Lopez, Peitrus, and there pick for MIllsap then use the picks on Knight, Jimmer, and Singleton

I think it's obvious that if Favors develops as hoped - Millsap will eventually serve Utah best coming off the bench. As far as whether that would cause a problem, I know Sap thinks he's a starter now - and I don't blame him - but knowing the type of team-first player Sap has always been, I like to think he'd put the team first and come off the bench. He may not be happy with it initially, but I think ultimately he would accept it.

I'm 100 percent sure Sap and Al starting next year is the best option to win actual basketball games. I don't care if it changes, but I don't think it will for the whole year.

Trade him for washed-up crap and the 21st pick. OH GOD WHY CANT WE JUST GET RID OF HIM 4EVER LOLOL he is 2 small okay

I think he was screwed when Boozer unexpectedly decide NOT to opt out of the last year of his contract. Millsap was expecting to become the starter after Boozer opted out, but when Boozer stayed, Sloan kept the status quo; started Boozer over Millsap. Kind of a bitter pill for Millsap to swallow... Anyway, Millsap needs to get over it, and I think he will, so long as his replacement actually EARNS the starting role.
I still think depending on matchups, which Corbin seems a LOT more aware of than Sloan was, Millsap can be effective logging some time at BOTH the SF and PF positions.

This topic again? It's pretty astonishing how many people on this board want to part ways with this guy. He's the best closer this team has, he has improved every year... EVERY TEAM IN THIS LEAGUE WOULD FIND A PLACE FOR PAUL. quote me.

Now, trade the **** out of big al and harris and we're getting somewhere.

Are we forgetting about Memo? Call me crazy, but I think he can still start.

Move Jefferson over to the 4. Bring Millsap off the bench.

I'm convinced that Millsap is best used as a 20-25 minute energy player. He gives 115% of what you expect when he's playing that role. When he is a 30-35 minute guy he gives about 85%.

Then again, Millsap has gotten better every summer. Maybe he'll surprise us again and become a legit starter.

Trading Millsap would be insane. For $6million/yr for the next 2 years he is a bargain.

Agree trading Millsap would be a mistake. Disagree about putting Okur into the starting lineup. Then what? Okur and Jefferson starting, Sap playing 25 minutes...and Derrick Favors picks up the scraps? Favors should be among your top 3 bigs, Memo the 4th who plays whatever time is left because at this point you just can't depend on him to stay healthy. If he can play - that's great - but I'm not sure you want to give him a large role only to have him disappear for a couple months.

It all depends on who earns the minutes. I don't think you should give Memo the minutes if he doesn't perform well. I still think Memo can be a legit starter. And I like the idea of starting Memo and Jefferson better than I like the idea of Jefferson and Millsap.

As for Favors, from what I saw last year he isn't ready to start, but I'm gonna go ahead and suppose he gets better this summer. If he deserves a starting spot, then I say give it to him.

Knight and Jimmer? 2 point guards? Horrible idea. And don't say Jimmer can play the 2 spot. He can't.

Knight shouldn't be a top 5 pick. He doesn't have great athleticism and doesn't even have good technique for the game or even basic understand of the point guard position. Rose and Wall and Westbrook all needed to improve there technique and skill set. But they all had elite athleticism coming into the league. Knight doesn't have elite athleticism and he doesn't have point guard skills. His potential sucks. And he hasn't shown any reason why he deserves the pick.
He is a good scorer but that is it. We can find plenty of good scoring small guards. They are everywhere. You can find them in the 2nd round. Nothing in Knight's game is elite or has the potential to be. So what are we expecting him to become?

I think he is gone this season and i think you will see a trade in the draft with him. Just my guess but no way do i want sap starting over favors in anyway. Favors is just way too much of a beast to not give minutes to. I would like to see what sap can do more at the three but not sure how long he could do that. It worked out pretty good the games they did that and watching the team against the lakers was the best part. So i guess it depends on the match up but either he comes off the bench or starts at three. Jazz draft a big man you can pretty much say good bye to sap. Which i think would be a sad day to get rid of him because he works his butt off.
