What's new

What will Boston do now?

Sounds very risky for the Jazz.
Jazz would tank the season and get a decent lottery pick.
They would now have four PGs on roster if they don't include Watson or Tinsley.
This would change draft strategy and throw roster and payroll into chaos.
Seems too risky for Jazz.

It's only risky if they trade away something with a good chance to matter in a few years. So take The Four and an unprotected pick off the table. What that leaves, however, is Al, Sap, Evans, Carroll, Foye, Tinsley, Watson, Mo, Marvin, this year's pick protected, and the GS pick. I doubt Boston goes for a package with those pieces, but if you can get him with it, you've essentially leveraged nothing and hence is not risky at all. You can get Rondo and proceed without regard to that as there's no guarantee Rondo will be the same player ever again. If it works out, great, if it doesn't, whatever.

What the hell makes you think that? Or so sure he'd ever get back to his old self ever for that matter? Not everyone can be Adrian Peterson.

95% according to this article, but with NBA players having access to the best surgeons in the world closer to 100%. But even a Rondo at 95% would be better than anything we will see at PG in a long, long time agree?

And it's not just true for hockey players. Dr. Mark Heard, the consulting physician for the Canadian Alpine Ski Team and Canadian Freestyle Ski Team, told me that the success rate for knee surgery "is in the 95% area" for all patients, from elite athletes to amateurs. "They generally return to the same level or higher after recovering from their reconstruction," he said.

That is all very encouraging if you have Rondo on your team.

Not necessarily endorsing it but if there was ever a time to get Rondo now would be it. His stock has dropped and Boston has to be thinking about blowing it up as they will miss the playoffs. Instead of asking for the kitchen sink they would probably now settle for the pantry. Yes it would still mean giving up either Kanter or Favors but don't think it would take many more additional pieces. Rondo will likely be 100% ready by the start of next season.
I would not have traded eithr of them for Rondo before his main weapon (speed) was seriously in question. If they ask for either now just hang up.

Step 1: Trade whatever vets/GSW pick/UT 2013 pick for Rondo

Step 2: Suck *** next season because Rondo is out and we're young as hell (but the young guys get great time to develop)

Step 3: Draft Wiggins/Randle/Jabari/Harrison/Gordon since we'll have a high pick

Step 4: 2014-2015 roster of

Rondo
Hayward
Wiggins
Favors
Kanter

I don't see them trading rondo. I think they want to trade KG/Pierce/Terry for picks/talent, probably end up lotto bound next season, and then be back at it when rondo is 100% to start the 2014/15 season

Solid logic.

But do PG usually come back from ACL injury strong?

Dunno the history behind that. But the article Jazz4ever posted said recovery is in the 95% range? And Rondo isn't terribly old, so I'm sure he'll be very much himself when he returns, that just won't be for a long while.

Thanks for a sensible answer bro. If that's the case, that's good. All the best to him.
