He did it with Marcus Smart, who is an elite level NBA defender, guarding him.

Baloney ,if you have superior athleticism you use it.Exum turns 21 in July ,he hasn't even touched how good he can be athletically yet.He's still a kid that hasn't grown into his man's body yet.He says he put on 10 lbs of muscle ,that just puts him at 205 lbs.Bring on the athleticism and use it .

Cough summer league effort not the same as regular season cough

Look, I hope Exum is terrific. I really do. But you can't point to a single summer league game and claim it shows anything real. You just can't. You can claim it gives you HOPE, but that's about it.

But... but... slightly better John Wall with elite defense
 
I'm not one for player comps, but I have some hopes in terms of production:

Next season: 8 PPG, 5 AST, 3 RB, 40% FG and 35% 3PFG. Top 5 defensive PG, distributor, attack the basket, and hit open 3's.

3-4 years: 13 PPG, 8 AST, 5 RB, 45 FG, 40% 3PFG. Elite defensive PG and Elite distributor. A threat offensively to hit open jumpers and to attack the basket.

I don't have high hopes of him being an elite offensive player. If he became similar to Westbrook even Wall offensively I'd be shocked. But defensively I think he will be a top 5 defensive point guard AT WORST. I expect him to make a ton of all NBA defensive 1st and 2nd teams over the course of his career. If he can be an elite defender and a threat offensively he will be a huge piece of our potetial championship hopes.

With Exum and Gobert, the Jazz could have the best on-the-ball defender and rim protector in the NBA for the next 10 years. We just need to find an elite go-to scorer. Man I wish Durant would sign with us...
