Starters: Okur Jefferson Millsap Hayward Harris

Bench: Kanter Favors Miles Burks/Bell Price/Watson

This is what i like! I know this is somewhat irrelevant but in my video game nba2k11 i play with that starting unit very well and that second group is pretty athletic! what are your guys thoughts?

I can guarantee Okur will not be a starter.

Millsap and Jefferson are going to to start at the 4 and 5. Harris is going to be the starting 1. Hayward will start at the 2 or the 3. The question is if we are going to start CJ Miles or Bell? Or some other vet we sign?

yeh can't really count on Okur even playing, let alone starting

if only we could bring Tomic over next year..:(

I'm guessing it'll be something along the lines of this, assuming we pick Watson and AK back up.

PG: Harris, Watson
SG: Miles, Burks, Bell
SF: Hayward, Kirilenko, Evans
PF: Favors, Millsap
C: Jefferson, Kanter, Okur

Burks and Kanter will earn their minutes, depending on how quickly they develop. We also have a ton of tweeners that'll be thrown around every which way.

Favors and Al should start. Sap, Okur, Kanter off the bench. It's going to be difficult to get all 5 enough minutes. Okur plays the least. Al or Sap get traded at some point.

doesn't matter at all... it's more exciting to think about our starting lineup in two or three years. damn, we're going to be a helluva team! i would even let burks start after the half of the season because i don't like cj's game.

jefferson (kanter is going to be our starter in two or three years, maybe favors will be our center and enes will be our power forward)
favors
hayward
miles (after the half season, hopefully burks will start or get more minutes than miles)
harris (after two or three years, i hope a point guard will start that we will pick in a future draft)

Agree. It will also be interesting to see if Hayward settles in at the 2 or 3. He's definitely gained some weight/strength since leaving college. If Burks proves that he's ready for major minutes, maybe Hayward will play more 3. I could get used to the idea of Hayward, Millsap and Evans sharing time at SF. Three completely different skill sets so Corbin could play according to match-ups.

If forced to bet, my guess for the starting lineup is:
PF-Millsap
C- Jefferson
SF-Hayward
SG-Bell
PG-Harris

If Bell starts, I hope he gets <20 mins/per. And the same with CJ. Both are short-timers. Even if it costs the Jazz some games, Burks, Hayward. Kanter and Favors all need to be given 25-30 mins/per. They are (hopefully) the foundation of the team going forward. But it's going to take a few years for them to develop, especially Kanter and Favors.

This question is easy: Harris, Miles/Hayward, Sap, Al.

X Factors: Ty wanting to mix up the front line. Slight chance. But bringing Favors and Kanter along slowly against bench units is the more sound move, and you definitely don't start Okur given the injuries. The other is Bell starting, but I just can't see it. Everyone except Jerry knows Bell is a 20 minute guy at most. The last is AK. If he's back, we could see AK start alongside Hayward, or even CJ. But in that scenario AK/Hayward/CJ get the big minutes, Bell gets the shorter minutes, and Burks sits. I can see Ty wanting Burks to watch a while before he gets time.

If Okur starts and gets starter's minutes, I'll ****. Although, if he did and had a career type year, he could be a hell of a chip to trade maybe. Maybe? I'd take more picks.

I have been saying that since the Jazz drafted both Kanter and Burks. I think that the Jazz should start the year with Jefferson getting heavy minutes but close to the trade deadline I would like to see Jefferson moved. A pick or a young prospect is what I would like in return. Someone to grow with the guys recently drafted. A big man rotation of Kanter, Favors, Millsap and Okur would be a great set up. We would not need Jefferson to be effective if we had those four sharing minutes.

Doing that will cost the Jazz games this year but it will get the Jazz out of mediocrity in a few years. It would also land the Jazz two decent draft picks. It would help to secure the GS pick and get the jazz another top 10 pick.

On a side note to all of this I am excited to see what Evans does next year. I know that Hayward and Evans started the offseason working together and I hope that it raised both of their games.

I would like to try...

Starters: Al, Favors, Millsap, Hayward, Harris
Bench: Okur, Kanter, (AK, Burks, Miles, Bell), Watson/Burks

I know people have doubts about Millsap as a 3, but he has the speed to do it. If he were to train and loose some weight, he would have a better chance. He looked out of sorts against quicker 3's last year, but you don't take someone who has been playing a position their whole life and drop it on them like that. It will be an adjustment. If it doesn't work, you change the line-up. I also believe that Hayward will excel at the 2 (like he did toward the end last year). Gaining weight will probably take away from his speed and jumping ability, so I would actually like to see him stay around his current weight.

With Burks and Kanter, we need to see how they respond to the next level. Then we should make some trades accordingly. I'm all for minutes for the youngens. I also want to see how Burks responds with a few minutes as PG--just to see. Lot of options all round. Also, I think Favors can play center. He held his own against Javale McGee and Bynum last year. I saw no center give him problems at all because of length. If he gains 10 more pounds, he will be formidable.

That would be one of the worst 8 frontcourts in the NBA next season. I love Kanter and Favors' potential as much as anyone, but they'd get eaten alive playing 30 minutes a night. For that matter, I'll be thrilled if Burks can handle 20.

Development does not mean playing young guys maximum minutes and letting them take their lumps while you lose 55 games. You put young guys in positions to succeed, you let them build their confidence if you have that luxury. We do. You obviously take the training wheels off faster if they're studs, but very few guys are right out of the gate.
