What's Jeremy Evans' potential ?

When Jeremy Evans gets within 5 feet of the hoop, he looks like Scottie Pippen. What would it take for Evans to extend his game out to about 15 - 20 feet? He needs to learn how to take a few dribbles, develop of jumper and a few drives where he changes speeds. If he can do that, I feel like he actually has as much potential to be an impact player as Burks does,

Here are his highlights from the last game against Portland:

For those of you who don't remember, this is what Scottie Pippen looked like his rookie year:

I truly believe he has very good upside. And I don't think it's that important for him to extend his offensive game out to 15' (not that he can't). We know he can oop, we know he can block, we know he can rebound .. he needs to be able to defend, consistently, away from the basket .. dependable night in and night out.

He may be a D-League All Star, and that's about it. There's a reason he can't get off the bench. He's not good. I love him, etc. but he's just not an NBA player.

I wonder why the staff has been playing him at the PF spot. That's not his position. Is there a problem with his lateral movement or something?

Also, it doesn't seem like he has a green light to shoot outside the lane.

I would guess yes, actually. I like jeremy, but he's far from a prototypical anything. I would think 3's could get past him with relative ease ..

Well, David Benoit didn't move well laterally and he still played sf. So maybe his abilities are limited out on the floor. FWIW, Bryon Russel took a couple years to develop his game to the point he could get playing time. Hopefully Evans is putting in the work.

I think he could be the fourth big guy on a team that pushes the ball a lot. He's a great player in transition and can score without any plays being run for him. He's a bit of a liability in the post, but I think he could find a team that would pay him a million or so a year to do some nice things for them.

F the haters. Jeremy can be a solid contributor. He needs more minutes, but isnt getting them because of who is in front of him

Jeremy has a unique skill set. A good coach could pull it out of him. Heck, he already does something evertime he plays. He does many things well including a 65% shooting percentage. He just needs a little polishing you get with experience

He needs a lot more than polishing, but I do believe he has some real upside.

Crazy potential at SF.
Manhandling by any PF > 240 lBs. at PF.

Sorry, but watching Jeremy gaurd Antawn Jamison this year just makes me think he needs to work on his SF game.

There's no way Evans should be trying to play PF and defend the post, any more than Hayward should. I just think he's not that far off from being a solid contributor. Yes, he could stand to get a bit stronger, but it seems like he should be able to add a couple dribbles and a 15' jump shot to his game. Then he's at least Thadeus Young.

Evans is our skinny blake griffin. He dunks on fools all day and plays volleyball on defense. Great potential if used correctly.

He needs to gain some serious weight and strength. If he could do that, he could be a good rotational player.

When the second teamers are on the floor and the game opens up, Jeremy Evans is fun to watch.

When Evans is up against starting caliber players, in the set offense or defense, he looks very much out of his league.

Evans' ceiling is a 10-12 mpg hustle guy coming off the bench. I think anything more than that is wishful thinking.

Corbingbing should start him at the 3 and let that incredible close out defense hurt San Antonio's wing shots.

Let Jeremy Evans Block!
