What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

Started the Pacific series today. Really good. Also did anyone catch that documentary on HBO from James Gonfolfini about PTSD and veterans? Pretty sad stuff. I cant imagine how Marines deal with what they experience.

Yeah, it was kind of an angry movie filled with dysfunctional folk.

That's Noah Baumbach for you. The Squid and the Whale has a (in my opinion undeserved) cult following; everything else is utterly forgettable.

Next up. The Kids Are Alright...on the 18th.

I liked it, but it's hardly fantastic.

2010 frankly hasn't been a good year for films. Very much looking forward to True Grit.

I disagree. I thought Squid was a fantastic movie. It's obvious film making is a catharsis for NB. So keeping that in mind, it helps you appreciate the film more. I mean, if anything, the situations and dysfunction depicted are American as apple pie. Life is not pretty.

+1. If you don't get caught up in the hipster aesthetic, and can look past the abortion that is Billy Baldwin, it's a damn good movie. Very rewatchable IMO.

The Fighter

Saw it last night. Film about Micky Ward. Wahlberg was alright. He seems to be the same character in every movie. But he did a decent job. Bale was ****ing amazing. That dude just takes his roles and becomes them.

There was a Q&A afterwards with the director and picture editor. Movie was shot in 30 days. All the boxing was done by Wahlberg.

Saw the new Harry Potter movie yesterday, I've never read any of the books and am not a Potter fan boy and this is the only one I saw in the theaters so I may not be the best person to ask but IMO this is prolly the 2nd best out of all of them.

Really good. They used an HBO crew to film them. 8 cameras. MW did a fantastic job.

So presumably you saw "The Kids Are All Right" last night.

For the record, was beantown's "analysis" of the film a) a little dumb, b) really dumb or c) otherworldly dumb?
