What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

what NAOS is getting at is the reasons as to why he finds some movies unwatchable-- he alluded to it in his post when he mentioned colton having no problems with the hyper sexualization and genderification of certain movies, while having a problem with nudity.

He's questioning the very boundaries that colton is using because he thinks some of the boundaries he's setting for some issues are far less damaging than absent boundaries for others.

Is it better for a child to watch a movie filled with racial stereotypes, than a boy seeing a boob? That sort of thing.
Why does it matter why Colton watches some movies and not others?
I don't like cartoons. Is it important to really badger me about why that is and get into the deep, true meaning of it?

it appears you have decided to NOT engage with any of the preceding conversation except the little part that gave you permission to get butthurt then step up to the plate and strike out. Bravo.

Somebody's got a case of the Mondays.
I'm hoping that was an office since reference

Be nice, NAOS. I get it. The MPAA ratings are crap and have devolved over the last 30 years (or maybe just our uptight society has) but Colton makes a fair point that it can act as a general barometer for what movies he wants to watch.

That said, Colton, if a movie is PG-13 OR R, I would take the time to go on imdb or another site to see why the movie received such a rating. Unless it's opening night, you can typically find specifics about certain scenes and what kind of "nudity" was shown or what kind of "violence" took place. They may actually be scenes that are quite benign in nature.

I'm curious, have you seen any rated R movies? Would you watch ones that are historic in nature? Braveheart, Gladiator, films like that?

Can't the difference between R and PG-13 be using the "f word" more than a certain amount of times? Like I remember seeing that PG-13 movies are allowed to say it once, but if they use it more than that (or in a sexual manner) it's considered R rated.

Ive been watching rated R movies from as early as I can remember. I vividly remember watching "He Got Game" and it being the first time I remember seeing boobs. I was probably 8 at the time.

The palefaced hooker is annoying in that but Rosario, mmmmm. The ferris wheel scene is a great boobs scene.

wow, you're still living in the 60s? Even the most devout people I know understand that the rating system is crap, and therefore that following its line is, well, ridiculous. There are more 'boundary-pushing' things said on this site every hour than in many R-rated films.

It's the new Mormonism/old Christian (or is it Jewish) ways. It's more important to jump through hoops and check off boxes than to actually do and be good.

Yeah saw the trailer when I went to watch Bourne, ... didn't look very good. I think DC comics is really lagging behind Marvels' now.

I actually thought it looked promising, mainly because Leto as The Joker looked promising. I had reservations because of their recent work and too many characters.

They just need to play it safe and give us an Affleck/Leto Batman/Joker movie. No origin story or BS, just a solid Batman/Joker story-line (not a comic book reader, but I'm sure there are dozens of already established proven story lines to choose from) that isn't focused on setting up a sequel.

Just sucks to think about how badly they are going to screw up Justice League.

I just think the problem with the DC comics franchise is that it's so fragmented, the actors kept changing, we had Bale then Affleck, ... etc, .. and the stories don't tie in together.

With Marvels there's much more consistency and a clear roadmap of where all the movies are going... no wonder they're raking it in at the box office.

The Gift

If you're after a thriller for tonight, definitely give this a go. Beautifully shot, has a great rhythm and pace, and wonderfully acted. This kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way. So simple, and yet so well made.

Citizen Kane wrote the book on 'beautifully shot'. It grades high in this facet still, today. What hotttnickkk means by 'beautifully shot' is that it didn't bore him.

I liked this movie a lot. It was cool to see Patrick Bateman actually act rather than play the same character he has been for most of his career.

True.. he was very good in this. I was surprised by it.

Also surprised who the director was too... (the other guy).
