What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

I watched 'The Witch' again. I don't know if I can recommend this movie enough, it's one of my favorite movies in recent memory. as far as recent horror movies it's definitely at the top. It has stuck with me all this time. It's crazy to think that this was the directors first movie, and it is so well done. Like Logan, another movie that had really good child actors.

This video is also fantastic-

I heard about the baby part and had to scratch it from my list.

I loved that movie. Probably my most favourite from last year. Dare I say it better executed than 'The White Ribbon' which I think it took a lot of cues from.

I will eagerly await the director's next project.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Solid B+. Not as good as the previous edition, but not a bad follow-up to it. Left a lot of open threads that can be tied up in a third installment nicely, and/or addressed in Avengers Infinity War.

Get OUT

I'd heard great things... but it's another 'good but not great' flix I'm afraid. Kinda like how 'It Follows' received GREAT reviews... but turned out to be just another one from the 'good but not great' bin.

What horror movies since 2000 were great to you? Because I couldn't disagree more. I thought Get Out was freakin' great and infinitely better than It Follows and The Witch which you loved. I'd give Get Out a 9/10.

I haven't seen everything obviously, and I could be forgetting something, but the five best horror movies for me in the 2000's have been:

28 Days Later
Get Out
Let The Right One In
The Strangers
Drag Me to Hell

Get Out started out GREAT, but I just don't think Get Out had enough in the final 3/4 to make the leap from 'good' to 'great'.

Admittedly I'm much more of a Korean horror fan than American ones, I just think they do it better somehow. My most favourite ones being Old Boy, The Chaser, The Mother, Hide and Seek, The Wailing, etc.

Cold Fish (Japanese) would totally blow your mind, BTW.

No props for The Host?

Oldboy is not a horror movie. Jesus.

Just watched Trainspotting, the original and still the best. I haven't felt that good since Archie Gemmell scored against Holland in 1978...

I kind of agree with OL. I thought Get Out was pretty good, but not great. They kind of dragged out the twist after it became obvious.

I think movies like Get Out really suffer from overexposure and people knowing too much going in. I had a pretty good idea what the movie was about just from the trailers. Think movies like that would probably have more impact going in blind.
