Seriously though, he does a good job. I read some of the criticism of casting Cruise in the role and I think that he pulled it off pretty good. The author apparently said that the size of Reacher in the novels was to imply an unstoppable force and Cruise pulls that off pretty good in his own way. Worth a viewing.

Ya i have heard he does a really good job in it and have heard its a good movie.

Haven't seen it but unfortunately have to agree about Cruise. He's that guy everyone loves to hate on but he always pulls the roles off perfectly. It's uncomfortable how much I respect and appreciation his acting skills because I can't stand him for some reason.

Sums up my feeling about cruise perfectly
 
Tom Cruise is definitely not the best, but he's also nowhere near the worst. People rip on him because he's prolly the worst of the mega-huge superstars. Maybe not, though. Are there others that are worse? Talking big stars here, Tom Cruise level and above.
 
Captain Phillips was ok. Maybe it would have been better if......
I wouldn't have read that the real Captain Phillips is getting sued by his crew and might not be the hero he is made out to be

I think that screwed with how I viewed the movie. Also, didn't think it was Tom Hanks best. I didnt really care for the accent either. I think Tom Hanks is the best actor too and I wasnt that impressed.

overrall ok. Not great though.


Didnt think much of Jack Reacher and I generally like Tom Cruise movies.


I like both Olympus has Fallen and White House Down. Thought both were pretty good.

Just rented Prisoners. Bout to give that try.
 
Damn, terrible thing to do. Doesn't change the fact he's made some terrific movies, but damn, that's not cool.
 
I'm a totally terrible nerd for admitting this, but in the last week I've seen two movies I shoulda seen in December. Spoiler tagging, just in case:

Hunger Games; Catching Fire -
They did better than they did in the first one. The ending was moderately weak. There was only one passing reference that I caught on to that District 13 ever existed, and I think it blew by anyone that hadn't read the books and ended more on a "WTF?" moment than a "I knew something was gonna happen" moment. The only other thing I could criticize is I don't care for how they did the mockingjay section of the map. I feel like that could have been done better. Really good movie, could stand mostly on it's own, great for someone who has or hasn't read the books.

The Hobbit - The desolation of Smaug;
So I start watching the movie, and the bear dude is not quite what I imagined him looking like. The elven king annoyed me more than made me hate him. Legolas actually looks a little bit masculine, which was a complete surprise. I had a heck of a time getting into this movie for almost the entire first hour. It wasn't until the hobbits were jailed that I was paying attention at all. But they made up for it. From that point on, it got progressively better for me. Some may hate ending on "What have we done?" but I loved it. They did such a great job painting a picture of being trapped with this terrible, abominable, unstoppable force(with Smaug) for what felt like an hour or more. And then, boom. The sudden, heart wrenching feeling that thusfar unstoppable evil you've been fighting is now unleashed on a poor, under armored town. And the rest of the world. It really brought me into the setting, and gave me goosebumps.

Next on my list are movies that aren't as well known, or are a little older:

Machete Kills - You can't help but love senseless, grotesque killing.
The Escape Plan - I don't have high hopes for this..
Pain and Gain - Who doesn't love The Rock?
The Wolverine - It can't be as bad as Xmen 3... right?
Jackass 3D - Let's be honest.. d*** and fart jokes only get as old as seeing a guy hit in the nuts
 
Always - Sunset on 3rd Street


If you are into Asian/Japanese culture, it's a story about how a small Japanese community picks itself up after World War 2 .. I really enjoyed it.. a really heart warming story. These guys can teach us a thing or two about family life/love/marriage.

I liked it. I am very intrigued by things like the moons of Jupiter and Saturn and the possibility of liquid water, and perhaps life.

Little late to the party, but American Hustle the best movie I've seen in a loooooooong time.

Rented it a couple nights ago.

Watched Saving Mr. Banks. I liked it. Tom Hanks is an awesome actor.

Watched The Master yesterday. Depressing film, but superb acting, fantastic score, and shot in 65 mm. I really liked it. Recommended for those who like indie films and don't need explosions and car chases
