I liked this movie a lot, Villeneuve is one of the best directors today, and he proves it yet again, Amy Adams is fantastic.

This is one of those WTF did I just watch movies, it is very odd to say the least. I was getting a Wes Anderson vibe to it. While I enjoyed some scenes(especially early on in the movie, the first half is much much better than the second) I can't say I would recommend it. The film doesn't seem to have a point to it other than to just bask in it's weirdness. And the characters don't feel like real people at all so I found it hard to keep myself engaged in what was going on .

Wow, that is crazy. The earliest screenings at my theater are 11:30.
 
Finally saw Split - it is good movie, but not in the great category. Amazing acting by Scottish dude though...
 
The Invitation


A bit late to the party (punn intended), but have you guys seen this gem of a thriller? I've just finished watching it, and I've gotta say I loved it. It had such a great premise and for me it delivered. So dreamy in its delivery, it could have easily been one of the dreams I had two nights ago.


Good, clean, thriller for grownups.


4/5 for me.

Yeah if there is a weak spot for the movie I thought the characters outside of Amy Adams weren't as memorable

Renner was kind of just a flat line performance

But even Michael Stuhlbarg for instance is a good actor but his character just felt stereotypical bad guy

I thought all the actors did great in their roles, but there was nothing for Renner's character to do. You could put the best actor in the world in that role and it's still going to be a throwaway character.

No such thing imo. The best example I can think of this in film is the guy who says he is DDL's brother in TWBB. I've never seen the guy before in anything. Don't even think I'd recognize him if I did see him again. But he is so ****ing subtly good in TWBB. Not sure if he's really a throwaway character per se but he's someone who doesn't seem important in the scheme of things. But the dude, quiet as can be, crushes that role.

No idea what any of those abbreviations stand for.

Renner is a throwaway character. He is some kind of high level physicist (cant remember the specific kind) and he manages to contribute absolutely nothing to the group until close to the end of the 2nd act.

His whole purpose was basically to be part of the twist that he is the divorced father from the future who knows science

if there was a academy awards for pets the dog in this one would win best actor lol. this is a neat little film, look at a everyday man and the interesting world around him.

Do you know what breed the dog in the movie was or could you post a pic of it for us dog lovers?
 
Watched Zootopia and Finding Dory recently with my five-year-old niece. Other than her telling me what was going to happen next all through both of them (actually quite cute in retrospect), I loved both movies.
