What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

Anyone seen "Inglorious ********"? It looks very entertaining and it's on demand now so I can watch it for free but, 156 minutes...damn, that's long.

Edit: wow, didn't think it would blank out that word esp considering it's intentionally misspelled in the title of the movie but, I'm sure most if not all know what i'm referring to.

It was good... only problem was that it was all downhill after the opening scene. Bad form to put the best part of the movie first.

I've seen other people say this, but I disagree.

I strongly prefer the scene where they meet Bridget Von Hammersmark in the basement bar and a fair number of other Christoph Walz sequences.

I actually think the opening scene drags a bit.

was recommended this movie after watched Old Boy. It's a romantic vampire movie, not exactly my type of movie, but it was a good movie nonetheless.

Tried watching this for the second time. I watched it in high school and thought maybe I would appreciate it more now in my mid 20s. Apparently I'm not smart enough to understand why this movie is generally considered the greatest of all time. Maybe Kicky can explain it to me.

Love.

The final shot sequence is, IMO, one of the most beautiful ever filmed. I sincerely hope you had the privilege of seeing it in Blu-Ray.

And that's before we get into the Welles' reveal in the doorway and the sewer chase sequences.

Tremendous admiration for the Third Man.

A lot of the reson the movie is considered the greatest of all time by a plurality of film critics has to with a stunning array of technical and storytelling innovations. Particularly famous are the development of deep focus photography, the dark scene in the theater with the only light being provided by the film projector (a direct ancestor of the Third Man's sewer chase lighting choices), and the use of breakaway sets to allow the camera to move through what should be solid spaces.

These are all things we take for granted today but were entirely new inventions at the time.

It helps that the story is pretty good and that Welles' has what the Madame refers to as the "id gleam" in spades for a good chunk of the film until he gets beaten down by life.

It is also the only film that I have ever watched multiple commentary tracks on the DVD version because of the wealth of information available.

No to the Blu-Ray though I do have it on my PS3. And yes, the last scene is beautiful. The sewer scenes are great. And I loved the writing particularly. Oh yeah and Welles is the ****ing man. He just has this swagger to him that I love.

Unfortunately I followed it up with this.

Ugh. I hate when I watch movies with potential. Granted there's been a ton of movies about big business' lack of a conscience and the guy trying to take them down (The Insider is my favorite movie of all-time) but this could have been a movie of substance had a) the script not sucked, b) Gibson not been in the lead (I would have preferred someone with ya know, some acting chops) and c) the director decided not to peak with Casino Royale. Seriously, Danny Huston can be ****ing great (The Proposition and Birth come to mind) and Ray Winstone carried every scene he was in. I don't know. Maybe this genre's just been done too many times.

Could have been great. Settled for ******.

I need to watch that again. I think my expectations were far too high when we saw it (opening weekend in the theaters) and I was hugely disappointed.

Ditto. I remember seeing it with my dad and brother and coming out of it thinking meh. Looking back, after about 10 more viewings, ****ing eh. A masterpiece.

I watched Law Abiding Citizen on Tuesday night. Meh. It reeked of Seven, but without the good actors.

Last night:

I liked it. Not your typical annoying love story, kind of the anti-love story, love story. Plus, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character has some really great threads in that movie. Sort of like a style guide for how guys my age should be dressing (myself included)

Meh. I hate guys who try to dress trendy like that. I wear decent shoes, solid jeans and a t-shirt and look good as **** doing so.

The real problem with Heat is that everytime a female is on the screen the movie just stops.

That's too bad. The thing about the Blu-Ray copy is that post-war Vienna seems even more ramshackle and the air even more desolately still because you can actually see the film grain in the dead spots.

The sewer scenes are great.

The images in the sewer are incredible.

You gotta see him as the fat corrupt cop in Touch of Evil.

One of the all-time great noirs.

Other Touch of Evil factoids that may be of interest to you:

1. Its funny that Charlton Heston is playing a Mexican in this movie.

2. The movie begins with one of the most famous crane shots in film history. This is the ancestor of the passing shot which is used frequently by PTA.
