Interstellar is a really impressive piece of cinema on several levels. Expect it to sweep a number of awards.
I would say a better comparison would be The Wrestler. The stories are fundamentally the same and they both use a washed up actor in the leading role to parallel real life and the movie. Black Swan is a lot darker and far more serious, and the narrative is told from a very different perspective.
Wrestler is a good comparison too. There's just that mixture of reality and imagination, kinda like wtf actually happened at the end, plus the character itself being a black bird, idk, I think it's kind of similar, but I think it's similar to the Wrestler too.
What do you think it will win? It doesn't really stand out compared to the rest for me. In fact, I can't think of a film so far this year that really sticks out. The hype for Interstellar definitely sticks out, perhaps that is what makes it seem that way. I think it will do just fine at the awards, but I don't think it will get any more than the rest. What will it get? Curious what you think.
Edit to add: I think Boyhood kind of sticks out for me. I will guess it wins more awards than Interstellar.

Saw Gone Girl which is directed by David Fincher who made Seven and Fight Club ect ect

Great acting right off the top. There were some really powerful scenes. That being said, the story and the situations seemed rushed. I can understand why since much of what happened took place over months if not years. But it still seemed rushed. I think they could have done a better job.
I think it helped that over a few months last summer I watched PBS's 1980's documentary Eyes On The Prize in it's totality. If you're looking for a refresher course on the civil rights movement in this country, I highly recommend this documentary. It's quite long but worth it. It is easily accessible on the youtube.
Anyway, I could not stand the cinematography. The DP decided to use a really wide lens which had a lot of lens distortion at the edges. It was really distracting for me. I also didnt care for the look of the film which is odd because I looked at his filmography and I absolutely loved Pariah and some other projects he worked on.
100% on RT. I would have given it 75% only because of the technical stuff. But again, the acting was top ****ing notch. Also good to see Wendell Pierce on the big screen!!

Beautiful movie!!! Phenomenal story. Acting was stellar. I loved that it was black and white. Some of those shots were just out of this world!!! Highly recommended. It should have won some in the AA.

Wow. I'm a huge, huge Talking Heads fan but I don't think you need to be to enjoy this "movie." I mean, it's less a movie and more one long music video filmed at a concert. From the opening to the end, the concept of less is more is firmly planted in your brain. The economy of the set and how it builds over the course of the film is brilliant. As far as I could tell it went off without a hitch and I am even more a fan of David Byrne and company.

I've watched this a couple of times in the past month after going 30 years since seeing it. It's probably the best concert movie ever, unless you want to give the vote to The Last Waltz.
