I don't get why people say he's good at offense and bad at offense.
I'd say he's neither good or bad at both.
How many shotputs did he miss last year? His pick and pop offense sucks. Basically, he either has to receive the ball for a dunk, or get by with that spin baseline move. Otherwise, he's pretty worthless. I didn't see a very effective or dominating offensive player last year. If anything, Millsap was the offensive player.
At defense, I didn't think it was that bad. His pick and roll hedging was pathetic. But then again, all Jazz bigs seemed to suck at that.
He was often slow at rotating.
But his shot blocking and man to man defense seemed ok to me.
To me, Al just isn't that good. He's not Karl Malone. He's not a franchise big. He's just an average big man in this league. A guy that could score in bunches, but isn't a franchise scorer. A guy that could block a few shots, but probably isn't going to be a very good defensive player.
A mixed bag =average player.
Hence, why we all hope and pray that Kanter/Favors develop into that franchise big. Neither Millsap or Al are going to be more than role players.
