Where do you have the Jazz finishing in the West this year?

Where will the Jazz finish record wise in the Western Conference?

I have to keep it real so I picked 7th. They could do better, but it feels like a lot things would have to go well for that to happen.
IMO, enough has been shown in the pre-season to make Utah a good bet to win 50 games.
Bigs: we pretty much knew about Al, Paul and Derrick. But Kanter is MUCH improved. Jazz can withstand an injury without it destroying the lineup.
Wings: I've seen enough of Marvin to predict he'll start and be a factor on both ends. Hayward is playing with confidence, although his shooting still needs work, Burks is improved. And we survived Braille last season, so we can survive Foye this year.
PG's: Mo can shoot. Tinsley is a capable backup, as is a healthy Watson. At worst, the production here is the same as last season.

What I like is the early signs of Ty's willingness to experiment at PG. That willingness allows us to slide the logjam down the roster, getting minutes for Burks and Foye, plus allowing Paul to play some three.

Agree. We've never had this kind of flexibility up and down the roster. Jazz can go big or small without any dropoff. A couple of injuries probably won't drastically affect the team.

The muliple position capability is going to be key going forward as the Jazz start to pay big to keep their young players and the tax threshhold becomes a factor. Jazz can only afford to pay 8-9 players. The rest will have to be rookies, vets on minimum salaries or scrubs.

I think Hayward will be fine this year with his shot. I would bet he'll shoot around 36% from 3 point land which is a tick above average. I am curious though, what do you mean by saying we can survive Foye this year??

The only position I worry about is PG. If Mo gets hurt we have two PGs that can't score well (Watson/Tinsley) and then we have a few combo/sgs to fill the role in Foye/Burks. Foye has been ok in the running system but I still don't trust Burks to run the point (although the PG position seems to have less significance in this offense). With a healthy Foye and Williams I think we'll be in good shape.

So far he has only experimented at point guard because he has been forced to. (injuries)

I believe that when both Mo and Tinsley are healthy there will be no experimenting..... It will be mo to start at point and tinsley to back him up, and hayward to start at the 2 with either foye OR burks backing him up.

So either foye or burks will not be getting to play much. (unfortunately due to ty liking vets, it will probably be burks getting screwed)

7th most likely. Behind LAL, LAC, SAS, MEM, DEN and OKC but I voted 6th because I am an optimist. :D If injury hits our front court we can recover easier than other teams and injuries are inevitable in the course of an 82 game season.

...by the way, I have no idea whatsoever where the Jazz will end up this year. But since I've been a Jazz fan since the early days of Stockton and Malone, I'll follow them more than any other pathetic NBA team as usual. I hope they do well.....and play the right way! Lot's of assists, high shooting percentage and the ability to actually run plays!

Dirk is out 6 weeks, with him and Love both out that should give us a nice advantage to start the season.

You should listen to interviews with Ty.
