Where Does Hood End Up?

I don't know how many times I can say this, but what's our game plan here? We valued Hood > Mirotic, we will likely retain Hood through the deadline, but then not match if he gets a higher offer from a team like Chicago. I don't get it.

It just sucks cause the 3 main interested teams in Hood arent really in a position to deal their picks.

Detroit and OKC both wont be able their 2019 pick.

Bulls have two first round picks, but why would they deal one of them to us when they could have just take Hood and expiring filler for Mirotic instead of taking on Asik? If they dealt to us, it would be a future 1st and I'm not interested in ANY of their players (beyond the untouchable Lauri).

I do like Detroit 3 wing players, Kennard/Bullock/Johnson, to varying levels.

OKC has Abrines, who I dont really like, but he can at least replace Hood's shooting.

So to me, with limited information, the best trades from those 3 teams would be centered around Reggie Bullock or Alex Abrines, and you hope you can talk them into future first instead of 2nd rounders.

I'd do Kennard for Hood straight up... enough years on the cheap deal to make that work. Not sure they'd do that.

Abrines is meh... I'm only doing T-Ferg if OKC wants Hood.

Outside of a Bulls deal where we dump AB I'm not sure they have anything they would offer that we would be interested in.

If these are the options I would think we'd do well to just keep him. He might have more value in a sign and trade this offseason than this garbage.

I would also think Hood plus some salary relief or plus our second round pick would get us a late first rounder.

I would think if the return was really this bad that you could call Philly and say your second round pick you have from BKN this year and Korkmaz for Hood and they'd do it all day.

I'd do Kennard for Hood straight up... enough years on the cheap deal to make that work. Not sure they'd do that.

We don't know that. Detroit is in win now mode. If they think Hood is the answer to win more now than Kennard will the next two years, you go with Hood. They don't have as much time to wait for development.

I would tend to agree there... I kind of like Galloway... hell no to Leuer. I think they stretch him this offseason.

They were able to do the Blake deal because the owner was probably behind it. It was "win now" as much as it was a business decision to try and sell tickets.

Hood isnt going to sell tickets. It's only going to cost you a lot of money next year and you are giving up your last remaining sort of high level asset to do so.

Once again, we don't know how much Hood is going to cost. With the lack of sellers, there is a chance that Detroit keeps Hood for a bargain. Hood is currently making around $2.5 per year. Considering his injury history, he might panic and accept some $10 million a year deal. Well, Hood at $10 per year would be a bargain for a guy who can spread the floor for Drummond and Griffen.

1. They arent in the luxury tax after the trade was completed, or am I missing something?
2. I told you why they did the Blake deal. Business. They needed someone to make the team exciting.
3. Hood isnt putting anyone in the stands.

I'm pretty sure i'm 100% right. They arent dealing Hood for Kennard straight up. If the Pistons wanted to, Utah would have already done it. SVG isnt exactly a guy who sits there and is a master negotiator. He is a straight talker, its why Detroit has always done trades prior to the deadline unlike most teams who wait til the last 24 hrs.

Why would you think that was a possibility? Chicago loudly said they wanted a first round pick above everything else.

At what point is Hood not better than a 1st round pick? I don't know what was and what wasn't a possibility. But Tony Jones is a pretty straight shooter with this stuff and doesn't make things up. He only reports when he gets a solid source and he's saying it's been verified Chicago is interested in Hood, so I just tossed out there that if it were a possibility I'd be very disappointed if we didn't do it.

One thing I do feel confident in is that for most of this season the Jazz have seemed to overvalue Hood.
