Where is Favors off season improvement?

Difficult to tell since no one other than Harris or Jefferson are allowed to touch the ball.

Just look @ Millsap's stats. Or Hayward's. No one is having a very good year with a point guard that has no clue how to run an offense and a big man who thinks he's Shaq.

I'm not making excuses for Favors. I just haven't seen him with the ball in his hands... Or anyone else's for that matter!

For the one game Jefferson sat, Favors looked pretty damn good. Or was his 20 point, 11 rebound, 10-16 FG performance really a fluke? And our offense finally started to resemble what we all thought it was going to look like. Was it a coincidence that Favors, Millsap, and Hayward were in double figures when Jefferson sat?

The biggest hurdle to Favors (or anyone else on our team) to look good and/or getting an accurate measurement of, is Black Hole Jefferson.

This. As much as I like Jefferson (he themes like a nice guy), he is a black hole on offense. No doubt it hasn't gone unnoticed by the FO, but the Jazz, as much as we want to play the young guys, need to win games too. Winning is also part of the development of a young player.

I have nothing to add, but I'm going to post in here just to say I have nothing to add.

Thanks. I was wondering if you had anything to add. And that clears that right up.

Favors is doing fine. The only thing that was wrong was fan expectations. Just like Hayward hasn't magically morphed into a "bigger Jeff Hornacek" overnight, Favors hasn't morphed into Dwight Howard in 8 months. It takes time and it very rarely happens overnight. You see a little more confidence in the 15-footer, a nice right-shoulder baseline fadeaway and confidence (if not execution) in his left-shoulder jump hook. Footwork and balance is still a work-in-progress but he's rebounding, playing defense and finishing strong at the rim when given the opportunity.

Once fans stop expecting Favors and Hayward and Burks and Kanter to all travel seamlessly down pathways to superstardom, they won't be disappointed in their development.

My thoughts exactly.

Locke interviewed Favors shortly after lock-out. Asked him what types of post moves he had been working on. Favors responded "ah, man just everything".

At the time I hoped he was just downplaying it, but watching him it appears it was the truth. Next summer I hope he picks one go to move and drills and drills and drills on it. So that the Jazz can call 4 down and he can get a basket using his one move.

I'm a TINY bit disappointed in Favors so far. I'm the most worried about his non passing. His defense has exceeded my expectations and everything other aspect of his game have been a bit disappointing. I'm not at all worried though.

What do you mean? Favors and Kanter were #3 picks; they should be superstars from the moment they first walk on the court. Hayward was #9, so he should have been playing at an all-star level by the end of his first year. And the same goes for Burks this year. We'll cut him some slack due to the lack of a summer league and training camp. But he was a lottery selection; if he doesn't make the rookie all-star team, then by season end - MINIMIUM - he should be playing 30+ mins and scoring 15 pts/per.

I don't know if you are being sarcastic here or just don't know how many players make the all star team yearly. If that's the case then the Wolves starting 5 are all stars while the Spurs only have Duncan because Parker and Floppy masters were drafted after pick 20.

Pretty sure there was an invisi-smiley at the end of the post.

One move usually doesn't work. You need at least one counter move otherwise you can be stopped fairly easily.

Favors has more of a face-up game than back-to-basket, which is good when he plays with Kanter, less so when he plays with Milsap. That should be next on his list though I'd imagine.
