If GS was up for it (I doubt it), I would change the terms on our trade, to where they could have the pick this year as long as it was unprotected next.

I'd rather development of the youth regardless of immediate outcome. But what else is new been saying that since the start of last year.

ask me after the trade deadline. if the jazz stand pat I say dont make the playoffs. the young guys wouldn't learn anything because they would play. if there is a trade that opens up playing time for the young ones then hell yes. they need playoff exp.

I'm torn with this, but I think if the Jazz are in the playoffs, our young players (except Hayward) may get stuck with spot minutes. I'd rather get a lotto pick and add one more young piece to this group, whether a PG or wing athlete. If we make the playoffs, we're likely picking 18 and 22 or something, which is going to be iffy in terms of getting a front-line talent.

I don't think the Jazz would last more than 5 or 6 games in the playoffs. We'd basically be extending our season 7 - 10 days, and we'd basically be investing the season in a bunch of players who likely won't be here next year.

I remember last season guys prefered hitting the lottery instead of the plaoffs.
it was a heated discusion.
lottery pick vs playoff experience.

the discusion was also fueled that jazz would lose their pick if they made the playoff, this year jazz get to keep their pick regardless so i was wondering what the consensus is this year

Last year was a pretty good draft class.. so it was a perfect time to "tank" so to speak. GSW got Barnes at #7 (who would have probably been #2 pick it he had come out in 2011). Plus our young guys were still learning the ropes so it would have been perfect to let him lose and get some good minutes in.

This year I'm not so sure because the draft class is not as good (unless you're picking in the top #3). So it's pretty much too late to play the tank game IMO.

The only way big changes are going to be made and the mistake of reupping Jefferson and Millsap to long-term contracts can be avoided... is if we miss the playoffs.

Will making the playoffs two years in a row and an 0-8 record benefit the team in the long run? Or 3 years and 0-12 record?

really? cp3 would abuse big al on the pick and roll going 0-4 with an avg win margin of 40 points

We've played them 3 times this year.
1- lost by 1 point
2- lost by 2 points
3- lost by 9 points (No Mo and I don't think Marvin either. Carrolle gave up a lot of Caron Butler open shots in this game)

I think we match up well if we have Mo.
Mo vs. CP3- Mo can at least guard CP3 having done so in practice alot
Foye vs. Green- Foye isn't shorter for once
Marvin vs. Butler- Marvin can gaurd him easy.
Milsap vs. Blake- Always a fun matchup but Blake usually wins
Jefferson vs. Jordan- Meh.
Off the bench it's basically Hayward vs. Jamaal Crawford and I think Hayward can gaurd him well and make him play on defense.
Plus we have Favors and Kanter on the bench and they win the battle of the bench.

At our best with a full roster, we can make it a good playoff series. I don't think it's a bad matchup for the Jazz and I'm not rooting for the 13th lotto pick in what is supposed to be one of the weakest draft in ages.

but come playoff time their coach will have preperation. 4 games of preparing for the jazz. days of exploiting our weakness.

not just a regular seaosn game.

so big al will get abused.

I want them to make the playoffs this year, but last year i definately didn't.

I would love for them to make the playoffs with the youth playing major minutes

It's a tough situation. If we win it's more enjoyable to watch, and we give ourselves false hope that we'll somehow catch fire.
If we get the lotto the fun of the draft on here is great entertainment. However there is a good chance we dont see that lotto pick play for a while.

What good does it do to get in the lottery again. We have 4 lotto players already, and they are all riding the pine behind veterans. This organization has no commitment to developing its young talent to the extent possible, so why bring on more, just so they too can get scant playing time so Ty can satisfy his fetish for veterans.

All DeAndre Jordan can do is dunk. Big Al doesn't even have to guard him outside 10 feet. High PnR's don't really work that well if Jordan isn't going to make a jumper because we can sag off him and concentrate on CP3. CP3 isn't lighting fast like John Wall, so he's not going to explode for layups all night either.

I want to keep losing because I believe it is the only way the organization will make the necessary changes. When they make the playoffs the front office thinks we are just one vet away or they start thinking about re-signing both Millsap and AJ which would certainly end any chance of being a real contender.
