Read a bit among Pelicans fans (motivated by the questionable report that the Jazz are trying to save money by moving off Ingles or Bogey) that some of them would be happy to send #17 to Utah in exchange for one of those two.

I'd be very surprised if there's anything real to it, but just for argument's sake:

Who would need to be available at #17 for you to move on this? Which of Bogey or Ingles would you move?
I’d turn around and trade 17 to Houston for 23 and 24. Then draft Butler and Wieskamp.

If you think Ingles is slowing down due to age, you might do this for Duarte, Garuba, Jalen Johnson or maybe Kai Jones. Duarte is the safest. Kai Jones might have the most upside.

Interesting. Maybe Wieskamp could be at least another sharp-shooter to help replace Bogey?

But couldn't you just get him at #30? He's almost sure to be there -- much more chance than that Butler will be at #23. (I'm assuming that if you're offloading Bogey's contract for picks, you wouldn't feel so compelled to use #30 to offload Favors's contract.)

So this deal has Jazz with three first round picks
Jazz would have to pay out three guaranteed contracts
That sounds like a lot of money

I know everyone seems to love Duarte, and I haven't seen enough of him to have a real strong opinion. But his age scares me so much. He may just be never anything more than a solid 8th/9th man in a rotation.

I've said before I'd roll the dice on Kai Jones; his ceiling is super high, but I'd be scared to death while doing it.

I would want Duarte or Garuba available. Or Trey Murphy, even though I'm not personally as high on him. For home run swings, Ziaire Williams or Keon Johnson.
I've not looked much at Keon Johnson. I know that his offense is the big question mark skill (in comparison to his athleticism/defensive potential). What do you see as his offensive pathway to success?

Freakiest of athletes. Super high motor and played good defense and has high potential on that end on and off ball. On offense you pretty much have to hope his shot develops. But he can create his own shot and create separation well. Has shown flashes as a passer, but needs to be a quicker and better decision maker. Pretty good finisher around the rim.

Kai Jones should be the player people were hoping Marquese Chriss would be. When he gets his reps in, he should be able to be a big 3D forward. Then the upside is based on how he develops offensively. He may develop into a 5 long term.

Keon Johnson is an extraordinary athlete who should have an impact on the defensive end. His shooting and offensive feel are question marks right now. He's a lot like Zaire Smith a few years ago (whose career seems to have been derailed by some allergic reaction he had). I was comparing Zaire Smith to Doug Christie a few years ago. I think Keon might be functionally similar.

I changed my vote. I now think Ingles and Favors both get moved tonight.
