I realize that this is a joke, but it's also probably the best post in the whole damn thread. The trade options listed just suck. Kanter's value right now is below average, while still better than most are making it out to be. Trading Kanter alone (at this moment) would yield pretty much nothing of true value. Instead, Kanter (and possibly Burke) should be considered as a piece of a bigger trade for an Alpha player. They need a wing or a PG who can challenge Gordon Hayward as the top dog offensively. Everything else is redundant.

They have a future Core (Gobert, Favors, Hayward and Exum) and they have some nice Role players (Burks - who can start or be a 6th man, Hood - if healthy, Kanter - depends on his contract, Burke - if he'll stop shooting so much and Booker depending on if he re-signs) and then they have a couple end of the bench guys like Ingles, Clark and Millsap. That's fine. What they lack is a go-to offensive juggernaut to compliment Hayward. That's what they need, and the only thing they should be looking at. Figure out who is going to be the next James Harden and go get him. Or better yet, convince the NBA that Enes Kanter is the next James Harden and get as big of a haul for him as possible.

Short of that, I keep him and hope that Quin Snyder (and playing with Gobert) can keep helping him improve as the team's 3rd big or as a future trade chip down the line.

All the backlash on trading Kanter, is just that, backlash. It means nothing. The truth is, he does have value. He's a young 22 year old big who can shoot the ball, rebound, and play in the post. His passing, athleticism, and defense are his deficiencies. He still has upside.

No one would even be talking trading Kanter if we didn't have Gobert. It's that simple. Kanter has become expendable because of Gobert.

Anyone of those players I listed are absolutely obtainable. In the only sentence I put in the OP, I said picks could be involved. None of those players are out of reach. And again, Kanter has plenty of value. He isn't garbage. If I'm a team that needs a big, I'd be looking at him because I would know that Utah might be willing to let him go without having to overpay, and there aren't many prospects out there as good as Kanter.

Go find me all the bigs better than Kanter who are potentially on the trade block. Not players established with their team and probably won't be going anywhere. Then we can talk about what Kanter's value is.

Of the players listed, I could support a trade for Dragic only. Yes, they're renting him. . . but he's also the only current All Star caliber player on the list. Trading Kanter frees up cap space to re-sign him for the future, and there's a chance that he could like it in Utah during the extended stay after the trade. I think that Quin would love him and they'd push hard to bring him back. Ideally, I'd rather see them throw all their assets at an All-Star caliber wing and then go after Dragic as a free agent, but I would support trading for him if that's what Utah decides is necessary to get him. If they do go that route, I'd hope that they would push to get Warren as well (even if it costs the Jazz to do so.) I think he's a guy who has an outside chance to develop into a #1 option down the road. And that's really what they should be targeting.

His trade value is low for external reasons just as much as his poor play. He is a restricted free agent in 4 months, and there are a slew of quality big men who are unrestricted free agents. At least 5 of them are better than Kanter, so as a GM I'll take my chances on them rather than give a significant asset for Kanter.

Valid points, which is why Id expect him to be involved as a piece of a trade instead of the main asset. Although, depending on how he plays between now and the deadline, don't underestimate the value of being able to control his rights. You mention that there's a number of quality bigs on the open market (just curious as to which 5 you have rated better than Kanter), but there's no guarantee that a team an get one of them, while they can always match whatever offer Kanter gets or extend him outright.

I don't understand your point. Kanter is better a prospect than all those players, but Monroe and Millsap. The big name ones we agree on.

How do those players drag down Kanter's value? The supply and demand rule would suggest that a Kanter level big is in low supply. We know what Millsap is, Monroe has upside still, but the rest is garbage. Kanter is going to be one of the only 22 year old high upside bigs available.
