Who is your Favorite Comedian?

Favorite? Not sure I have a favorite. Old Bill Cosby still makes me laugh. Love George Carlin, Steve Martin, Don Rickles, Richard Pryor, Rodney Dangerfield, Sam Kinison, Steven Wright, Bill Hicks, Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy back in the day, Mitch Hedberg, Chris Rock, Lisa Lampanelli, Rodney Carrington, Ron White, and Larry the Cable Guy have all made me laugh. Some are on a high level but sometimes a good dick joke is what is needed for a laugh.

His routine about feeding the kids chocolate cake for breakfast is one of the best comedy pieces ever written.

Rodney Dangerfield

I have some live concert CD's that he did. Completely underrated as an improvisational and insult comic.

Steven Wright

I think he's aged poorly simply as a result of the success of his jokes. Tons of his material has passed into "mom joke" territory used by people who aren't funny and it's devalued his actual delivery because the material doesn't feel fresh anymore.

Bill Hicks

Amazing.

Carlin and Martin have already been mentioned - I'll mention a couple of really good ones that haven't:

Sarah Silverman - one of the few genuinely funny female comedians on Earth.

David Cross - hilarious when he's not being preachy.

Not sure what everyone's opinion of Ellen is, but she is REALLY funny doing stand up. Her bit about baby Jesus' head rolling across the mall floor is priceless. Seinfeld is underrated as a standup comic - nothing like his TV show standup. Robin Williams is good too. Ive seen some who i never thought were funny as character actors but were surprising good as standup comedians, like Gilbert Gottfried. Anyone seen Bob Saget's act?

You listed off some of the greatest comedians in the history of entertainment, and put Larry the Cable Guy in with them. I really think that's grounds for a one-day suspension or something.

The standup comedians who consistently make me go into hysterics are George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, Gilbert Gottfried, Lewis Black, Carrot Top, Mitch Hedberg, Neil Hamburger, Rodney Dangerfield, Norm MacDonald, Yucko the Clown, Chris Rock, Jim Gaffigan, Dave Chappelle, Jim Breur.

Comedic actors who consistently make me laugh in movies are Eddie Murphy, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Chris Farley, Rob Schneider, Nick Swardson, Adam Sandler, Norm MacDonald, Will Ferrell, Tracy Morgan.

My favorite comedian is definitely George Carlin, but since everyone knows him, I'll leave a link to a Tom Cotter video, since he's my second favorite, but certainly more obscure than Carlin.

Carlin is my favorite so I watched Cotter. Made me laugh until he got to the bit about the airplane stuff - which was completely ripped off Carlin. That made me sad.

The guy makes me laugh. Can't help it, although I could go the rest of my life without hearing "gir-r-dun".

Wait. You rip me for mentioning Larry The Cable Guy and then you drop ****ing Carrot Top and say that Chevy Chase and Rob Schneider consistently make you laugh?

Dude....

The timing of ripping one for liking Larry the Cable Guy and then immediately mentioning Carrot Top was a feeble attempt at ironic humor. However, Carrot Top really does make me laugh. I cannot deny it. I think he's clever. Chevy Chase is also hilarious in Fletch, Caddyshack, Vacations, and even movies like Nothin But Trouble and Dirty Work. Also was amazing on SNL doing the news.

I don't think Larry The Cable Guy is even a little funny - but I sure as hell admire the guy. To be made a millionaire many times over by the very people he's been ridiculing for years - it truly is a stroke of genius.

Larry makes me laugh. He's not high-brow or even that orginal. He's just funny.

I'll give you Chevy Chase on SNL, Caddyshack, Fletch, and Vacation (the original and Christmas only), but I would never say he consistently makes anyone laugh.

You're about as funny as Sinbad. The sailor, not the comedian. He's hilarious.

W. C. Fields.

Nuff sed, eh?

I think that's a different mode of comedy given the era and the lack of a stand-up routine at the time. Fields was really a vaudeville guy who transitioned into radio and film.

He was also hilarious. But that does open a whole different bag of worms related to silent stars (Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd) and other burlesque and vaudeville transition acts like the Marx Brothers (I maintain that Duck Soup is among the funniest films ever made), the Three Stooges, Abbott and Costello, and even Bob Hope.

Mitch Hedberg is hilarious.
Zach Galifiniakis is still very good as a stand up (I haven't liked him on screen).
Patton Oswalt has his moments.

Marcus for sure is funny. A dude that makes me laugh my *** off is Pablo Francisco.
