Who is your starting 5

I think our best lineup with a gun to our heads is Hill, Hood, Hayward, Favors, Gobert.

However, I'd be interested in seeing Exum start at point, move Hill to the 2, and Hayward at the 3 with Hood off the bench. That'd be something else.

I've heard it is the blindfolded balance beam that is the hangup.

We need him healthy this first stretch of the season.

Also, I know wings are kind of able to just rotate between 2/3 but I don't view Hood as a great option as a 3. Just doesn't have the girth to guard the bigger wings imo. I want lineups to put our most important players in the best situations... so Hood as a 2 and Exum as a 1. Let guys like Mack move into different roles. I don't think positions matter as much when coming off the bench because everyone is mixing and matching at that point.

Hood will have to play 3 while Hayward is gone unless you want our 3-rotation to be solely Johnson and Ingles.

Hard to speculate on a Hayward-free rotation until we get some decent data on Burks. If we're also going to be without him for a while, then I'd expect our SF rotation to be 90+% JJ and Ingles. Hood is definitely overmatched by the larger wings.

I think Exum is our best shooting guard defender, and could see him getting a lot of playing time at the 2 because of it.

True. I could see Quin starting Exum opening night against Lillard and McCollum and then switching it up against the Lakers.

No doubt he will play there some just don't start him there. I think JJ and Ingles is fine for 15 games. If Burks is healthy I feel much better about it.

healthy Burks, it would be Hill, Burks, Hood, Favors, Gobert

not healthy Burks, it would be Hill, Exum, Hood, Favors Gobert
I really don't like Hood and Burks as your starting wings. I don't think either of them play defense well enough to slow down the best wing player from the other team.

Some coaches don't like to mess with their rotations by moving guys to different spots, and would rather start the backup even if it's not the best 5 guys.
Does Snyder view it that way?

That being said, I agree with those that have said JJ starts at the 3 in place of Hayward.

No way Exum starts over Hill at this point. Hill is proven, and Exum still has lots to learn and prove.
We want to win now, not wait while someone we think will be really good improves.

The time is now.

Inserting Exum and moving Hood to the 3 in my opinion has a very low chance of happening, like 1% chance.
I could be wrong, but that's how I see it.

You're right. That would be something else besides Hill-Hood-Hayward-Favors-Gobert.

That would be the Absolute Worst shooting starting lineup in the game of BBALL. Showing again you know nada about this game.. Exum is still so raw and not ready to be a starter in the nba.
I know you are Family to Exum but the kid needs time. Throw a player like him, who didn't grow up playing ball in America and you are risking ruining his career before it has even started. Would ruin his confidence and break him down to nothing. If you are starting Exum then you would have to sit Favors or slide him to the 5 and put Lyles in a the 4. Good luck playing ball with 3 guys who cant shoot. Defending this lineup would be beyond simple.

I'll take Exum at PG
..........Hood at SG
..........Hayward at SF
..........Favors at PF
..........Gobert at C

Real season starts when they have these guys starting

GHill,ABurks,JIngles,TLyles,BDiaw 2nd unit

JIngles,SMack 11th,12th man

Well, it worked pretty well when Exum was starting his rookie season.

I think we went 19-10 with that lineup and over that 29 game sample size had a defensive rating that, if sustained over a full season, would have been like top 10 ever. Not saying we'd sustain it for a full season; maybe but it's unlikely. Just trying to convey that lineup probably wouldn't crash and burn, and would even be formidable.

Another reason to not start Exum:

Do you really want him to get more minutes as a 2 opposed to coming off the bench as a 1?
If pre-season is any indication Exum will see plenty of minutes at the 2.

Burke's is better suited on the bench. At 35 I don't think JJ can sustain being the leader on offense for the bench, but I believe Burks can. JJ is better served playing more of a support role

U might want to sit down for this, but Hayward has a factured finger.

I'd like to see Hill moved to the 2, and have Exum start at pg. Exum would guard sg's obviously. I'd rather see Exum on ball more then off ball. This plays to the strengths of both Exum and Hill. Sg and sf do an awful lot of running the offense on this team anyway.

I think that will be the plan eventually. Right now though they want to ease Exum back into things, and SG duty is a lot easier than PG duty.
