Maybe this will be clarified with the rest of the trade news coming out, but it makes for a fun thought experiment.

As it stands, this is our depth chart:

Hill/Exum/Mack/Neto/Burke
Hood/Burks/Johnson
Hayward/Ingles
Favors/Lyles
Gobert/Withey/Pleiss

With draft picks potentially coming our way.

I would figure we get rid of 2 PGs-- but the question becomes which 2? As presently constituted, Mack might be the best of the three-- but we saw how useful he was as a 3rd stringer with Atlanta. His play improved with usage, and he won't be playing nearly the same amount of minutes here barring injury.

Consequently, I'm thinking we stick with Neto, and axe the other 2. What say you?

Depth chart also reveals how think we are at the wing. I'm hoping we can draft Bembry and snipe PJ Tucker from PHX to address these both.

Despite whoring himself out to any team that will have him this offseason, Dudley would be a good backup for Hayward. He's one of the best 3pt shooters last season and he's a pretty good defender.

Hill, Exum, Neto
Hood, Burks, Mack
Hayward, Dudley, Ingles

Who is Hill?

The one on the left with blonde hair.

I think Mack slides as 3d SG and we waive Johnson. Quin was already playing him considerable minutes as a de-facto SG last season. This would make Neto 3d PG.

Hill will play as a combo guard. Some with Exum and some with Hood. So really, the question is - who are our 6 PG's/SG's?

I would say Exum, Hood, Hill, Burks, Mack and Neto.

Could we get rid of all of them and have Burks play 3rd string PG along with 2nd string SG? He played a lot better at PG this year

Unless a trade comes along, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Hill, Exum, Mack, and Neto all on the roster. The positional flexibility of Hill and Exum allows for this "glut" of "PGs"

Neto and Mack to me seem like 3a and 3b. It's an interesting question. I think we could do better than Mack if we want him to play the 2. As in try to find someone who excels at one thing (Morrow 3 point, Millsap defense) at that spot, not someone is is average at everything like Mack

Do you guys think we'll ever see the three wing lineup again? Or was that only ever a stopgap while we were so weak at point guard?

Mack has a great contract, so we might keep him. Also has good trade value bc of it. I like Neto better in that role tho.

Doesn't really matter, either Neto or Mack, they're both cheap. They shouldn't get on the court with any regularity all being well.

1- Exum
2- Mack
3- Neto

Hill will be used at backup SG. Burke and Burks will probably be moved. It's the only way I can make some semblance of sense out of trading for Mack and then Hill when Exum is the guy moving forward and the team supposedly likes Neto.
