Is there any hope that Kamala makes Bernie her VP?

Feels like voters need something to feel excited about. I dont think Kamala is terrible terrible, but no one is excited about her. I get that Bernie cant be the President, but he can be VP.
Bernie would give the GOP the boogeyman they’ve been trying to turn Biden into (without much of the upside). It’s a political non-starter.

All the Dems have to do is put someone out there that doesn’t literally or figuratively face-plant at a high rate, is emphatically pro-choice, and they have a serious shot at winning. The name of the game is milquetoast, getting some identitarian points is a bonus.

I think there’s enough excitement here. She just broke a fundraising record in these first 24 hours. She’s getting pop culture traction. The meme mills have been pretty good to her. If she just runs a traditional campaign from here and picks the right white, male, non-coastal governor I think she has it.

Biden set the bar so unbelievably ****ing low that this actually is exciting. He stood 0 chance. 0.

Kamala needs to walk a fine line. She needs to attack The Rapist yet come off as likable. That's a tough assignment. Bernie would be great as a foil for Kamala, someone who could attack relentlessly so she can focus on an uplifting message. But Bernie is 82-years-old.

I love Bernie. One of the best humans on the planet. But, I don't think he should be second in charge of the most powerful country the world has ever seen. Make him the federal director of the "Department of Psychedelic Thinking" or some other benign office.

It seems like you've got some stuff to get off your chest about Bernie and I want to explore that.

I want to elaborate on the importance of running a traditional campaign: Biden won after he hardly campaigned and frankly sucked at doing it. Hillary lost because she coasted on her campaigning (famously not going to Wisconsin once).

If Kamala does the normal thing where it’s doing 1-2 TV/radio spots a day and 1-3 rallies a day and delivers some good lines (like a good politician is supposed to be able to do), that will be more than the Democratic nominee has done in 12 years (WTFFF).

I’m definitely left-of-center, but I truly believe that most people in this country want to vote for a liberal that just doesn’t kinda suck. Like, we got a lot of astroturfed belly-aching about Obama, but when it came right down to it he handily delivered in both his election campaigns.

It’s a shame what happened to Bernie. Would’ve been nice for him to have a chance at a general election.

I'm a Bernie Bro for life. Him and the rest of the progressive caucus most closely align with my worldview in US politics. I would still vote the **** out of a Harris/Sanders ticket.

That said, I don't think he wants the smoke anymore. He's happy sunsetting his career in the Senate. Also, the moment we throw an octogenarian socialist onto the ticket, which the DNC would never ****ing do (They hate Bernie because he's sick AF) we're opening up big lanes of attack.

Risky.

Edit: I just want to add, that if Bernie somehow obtained the presidency and got even half of his agenda through Congress, America would be twice the country it is now.

So if anyone notices I've updated the poll. FYI you cannot change the options once posted, so "placeholder" can't be edited. That actually makes sense and is good. You can't add a poll after you start a thread either, more FYI.

Anyway...

It's almost certainly going to be Kamala. So the choice is Kamala or Other. Well... and placeholder/placeholder(1) if you're so inclined.

What about AOC?

That would be high ****ing octane.

I think it would be a distraction. AOC would steal the spotlight.
That's her job as a tank, drawing all the aggro on herself.

I'd also like Mark Kelly, he could completely blunt any of the talk about the assassination attempt. "Oh, you got your ear pierced? I flew combat missions in Desert Storm, and, oh, yeah, my wife took a bullet to the skull."

I think Mark Kelley is a really good choice
