After watching Hayward play in the Summer League, I understand better why Korver was so disappointed that the Jazz drafted him. So, considering everything, who should the Jazz sign?

I would be inclined to sign either or both depending on how much they are going for. There seems to be few options out there to get much better at the 4 and 5 right now. Maybe that will change, maybe it won't.

But based on our history with free agents, I would rather have tradeable assets than cap space. Cap space doesn't do us much good at all if there's no one willing to come take our money. If we have good players that other teams want, however, we can look at putting together a trade.

They are both good assets, but I wouldn't overpay for either.

That's the key. In one year, we'll have a pretty solid 3-man rotation with CJ, Matthews and Hayward. Give each of those players 32 mins and you're set. Or, if needed, you can eat into a few minutes at the 2 by playing with 2 PG's.

This season, Hayward isn't going to get that much PT. I think 10-15 will be about right for a rookie. But no problem, AK needs to play. He'll get 15/per backing up Millsap and he can get 15 mins. at SF.

I think you can probably carve out 10 mins for Brewer or Korver - just reduce mins for the others. And, of course, there will be injuries. I'd probably rather have Brewer back. He's a better defender and he'd probably come cheaper. But it depends on how he's recovered from his injury.

Worst case, we have Jeffers. He's a Brewer-lite. Not as big, but a decent defender who can score around the hoop.

Assuming Mathews is re-signed, there's no room for either of them really. But if not, I'd rather have Korver. Need all of the shooters they can get.

This.

I for one will be an unhappy fan if either of these scrubs are brought back. Getting Brewer back would be retarded. Not to mention if they sign Brewer they would have to use their MLE and that would signal that they are no resigning Mathews.

...I concur.......but only on the cheap and for no more than 1 or 2 years! Here's why. THey are both very familiar with our system......if we need to fill roster spots these guys probably beat any alternative. We, of course, need bigger bodies. But who out there is available? We could go with untested and undrafted clowns. But don't know if that is the best option. Sad, that with all the basketball clowns out there, few really know how to play this game! Frankly, I'm just looking forward to the lockout of 2011!
