Why are the Jazz being named the team that's going to miss the playoffs?

Because...Although D'Antoni, Jackson and McHale aren't very good coaches, they're still 10x better than Corbin will ever be.

Jackson, maybe. Both are too early in their careers to tell.

D'Antoni? I guess he is a better specialist. He was given the perfect conditions for his system and still never made the finals. Since, he has been a below average coach.

McHale? **** no. Corbin is winning with Jefferson, something McHale could never do. The Rockets have a super-star and are below the Jazz in the standings. It's not like they lack depth or talent outside of Harden either.

By virtue of a record breaking 45 point win on our home court, McHale deserves to be considered a better head coach than Corbin...

What the Rockets did in the 4th quarter to get the 45 point lead was douchebaggery at its finest. They just shot a ton of threes and buried us.

If Al stays hurt for a while, I suspect the Jazz might make it. I am all-in on what prevents Al from coming back. If that's success without him or failure with him, in all for it.

Getting a lottery pick would be nice too, but secondary to the point above. Making the playoffs without Al would definitely be the most fun.

The Lakers and Jazz have pretty comparable schedules.

The average road losing percentage of LA's home opponents is .590. The average road losing percentage of Utah's home opponents is .618. Advantage Jazz.
The average home losing percentage of LA's road opponents is .404. The average home losing percentage of Utah's road opponents is .352. Advantage Lakers.

If you average home/road winning percentage with opponents' road/home losing percentage, and use this as an expected wins formula for the games remaining, the Jazz's expected record the rest of the way is 11.6-11.4. The Lakers' expected record is 11.2-11.8.

Both teams have 11 home and 12 road games remaining, and the Jazz hold the tie breaker. Utah will have to fall apart to miss the playoffs.
You have a formula for teams that have gotten immensely better and are better than the other? Because the Lakers have been playing pretty good (and are playing with urgency and purpose) and the Jazz just did fall apart at home to two teams the Lakers just beat.

Again, if Al is out for a while, then the Jazz are in. Otherwise, I see the Jazz missing it as being at least possible, and even probable.

The formula is flawed. no argument here. It's going to be difficult for the Lakers to make up 4 games on the Jazz. Maybe you haven't noticed, but the Jazz have been winning games since the start of January. Not a sure thing, but I think it's more likely the Jazz make the playoffs.

well, all you folks just think of this. babe is magic. It's time for me to start paying attention to the Jazz. . . . . when I do, the universe shakes, and good things happen. . . . . babe to the rescue.

if not enuff; let me add, it is a Jazz thing to play and win against the odds.
Jazz make the playoffs, the coach will get the credit.

On a second thinking, maybe it would be a bliss to miss the play-offs! AJ will not be re-signed and maybe Tyrone may be fired

Gee, maybe they know more than you do. Looks like they are going to be right. Lets just hope that management takes this fail to heart and learns some lessons.
