What's new

Why are we losing games?

Another reason we are losing so much is because I bet a bunch of our players were being good soldiers hoping for a trade...that didn't happen. We now have a bunch of players that need to build their resume before their payday comes. You can have one or two and leverage that ala Boozer, but you can't have 9.

Oh, and Corbin sucks.

But we had the same coaching, defence and shot selection iin December, January and February. And Kanter, Favors and Burks played way less then... But the Jazz have been winning. What has chaged since then?
We are playing on the road and against better teams. We lost far too many winneable games even during the stretch your talking about. The opponents were hiding the weaknesses of this team. The youg guys have only been playing more due to injury. In games that everybody is healthy we are almost back to the minutes we started the season with. Except Burks is actually playing every game.

We are playing teams that are better than us, or we are playing teams on the road. The blowouts come when both of those things happen in the same game.
Really Cleveland is better? The Knicks without their 2 best players? Houston was at home. So much obviously wrong with this post.

The same coach, the same players. Our young players have been playing much better lately... and they got to play way more minutes than in November-December. Mo, who is supposedly better than Tinsley or Watson is finally back. So why have the Jazz recently lost so many games and regularly falls behind by 25-30 points? What gives?

Betcha if the ball bounces a different way in two of those close games last week you would be a tiny praises of how awesome the jazz were for being .500 and in the playoffs. When you say regularly fall behind by 25-30, do you actually mean they fall behind by 45 to Houston, and the. Get down big like two months later to OKC? Seems a bit dramatic and reactive, wouldn't you say? Yeah I get that they fell behind big to New York, but that is three games in like three months that they lost big. Hardly a regularity. Really it came down to coaching at the end of those close games, where tyco couldn't draw up a play to save his life, and one game was lost by a mo Williams layup that, by all natural laws, should have been in for the win.

Well that's my rant. Next time you want to post about the jazz losing big, get a larger sample size of games. This team fights, they may suck and have crappy coach, but they don't regularly fall behind by 25-30 points

I really don't know why people think it's a money issue. It's just the fact the Jazz want to give him enough time to fully evaluate him.

LOL - an excellent philosphy if you're running a Costco and just hired a new Assistant Manager for the Produce Department.

An NBA Franchise on the other hand? Ummm, I dunno.

Concentration and motivation of players done for the season after it's big possibility to miss the play offs. The schedule is tougher than earlier months and opponent's. Getting closer to the end of the season, veteran players know that neither their role nor minutes will not be same for the next year if they might stay in SLC. The team is mediocre at best for the west conference. Back court is just one of the worst in the whole NBA even though our front court carries the load. Corbin sucks badly and panics so much when the game's tied and it's sure he can not handle the situations a la Bell, Millsap. Wrong rotations, same patterns by not regarding the opponents hurt the winning chance either. Youngsters are inconsistent due to minutes they take and weird roles like Kanter's and Burk's min month by month.

The way the Jazz have planned for its future since the Deron trade is equivalent to someone draining their life savings on slot machines. No long term/big picture goals...just play for today. 1 or 2 years down the road is too far ahead to even think about.

I checked the box scores and, yeah, going by the memory I exaggerated the size of the point differential: it was actually not 25-30, but rather 20+ points. In the last 7 losses the Jazz were at some point behind by at least 20 points 4 times - against ATL, OKC, Knicks and Clippers. That still seems to be a lot for me. And, honestly, when you fall behind by 20 points against even an average team it pretty much means the game is over. I do not remember the Jazz being so prone to total collapses earlier in the season.

Recently, unless we play a hopeless team like the Bobcats or Detroit, you can always count on the Jazz to have a collapse: to completely fall apart in one of the quarters and fall behind by 20, or to collapse at the end of the close game with multiple turnovers/bad shots. Which is really unexpected - usually the teams with many new players and/or rapidly improving young players are getting better as the season progresses.

Maybe it is that the other teams have the Jazz completely figured out by now and the Jazz do not adjust. In other words, we are getting totally out coached.
