And even worse after Kanter's solid game tonight. He's looking like a pretty solid #3 pick. Certainly not the all-world coach-killer we got in Deron, but given the slim pickings, not bad at all.
why didn't we trade kanter for josh smith?

I call this the Clipper syndrome. For many years they got great draft picks and within a few years traded every pick they got. Because they were not patient. If you do that then your draft picks are worthless. Is ( has there ever been, will there ever be) a player on our roster that some fan doesn't want traded. Stockton perhaps, but i'm sure i just missed reading those.
I like JSmoove on my fantasy team but no for THIS team...
... think about it, Millsap/Smith/Jefferson/Favors/Memo to start the season??? Granted that Millsap started the year off the bench but how would they fit all those minutes for 2 positions? At least with Favors/Kanter, they were projects to begin with & needed time to develop. Kanter proved he could earn legit minutes (4 man rotation), thus the Memo dump.
