Why is Utah not in trade talks instead of Denver?

No thanks. Bynum will bolt Utah as soon as the season is over. Not to mention of all the pieces that we could give up we get rid of Millsap and Kanter? No thanks X 1,000,000

Millsap is a fine player, but Kanter is really just a project that we have no idea how will turn out. I would obviously prefer to change Millsap with Jefferson but doubt that the Lakers would be interested, and Favors/Bynum/Jefferson would be awesome and the best front court trio in the league.

stein now says the conference call is scheduled to get the trade approved... so it sounds like it's going down.

and the jazz aren't getting involved because we don't have the right pieces. you (OPer) were offering sap/jefferson, but have you noticed that neither of the teams taking guys back from denver are taking a big? philly is getting bynum, so they don't want sap/al and orlando is getting pau.

If that trade goes down, killer trade for everyone but ORL.

EDIT: I'll admit...When I read the trade proposed I saw both Bynum and Gasol in it but somehow it didnt register until a few minutes after I posted that LA would be giving both up for Dwight AND taking back Harrington. I thought about going back and editing but didnt think anyone read my posts anyways.

Glad to know I am relevant in the trade analysists discussions and now I would officially liked to be on record stating that this would not be a good trade for the LA water guys.

so LA's core will now be nash-kobe-howard, with their third best player being metta and with all but one of those guys playing towards a window that is on its way to closed rather than open. it's definitely a win-now type of trade and, who knows, might be enough to get kobe a sixth ring. but the last couple years they have definitely been mortgaging the future to some degree.

i also don't love the trade for denver... for them it's basically afflalo and harrington for iggy. afflalo is basically a middle-class man's iggy ... only afflalo is owed over the next 4 years what they'll have to pay iggy for the next two. and they have to give up harrington who, if shamsports is right, only has one guaranteed year left. if you're going to give away an expiring SF/PF who spreads the floor AND an underrated defensive specialist with range on his shot, is it really going to be to build around iggy?

ORL i think gets an OK deal... probably better than what houston was offering from a talent standpoint. (from an asset standpoint, depends on if there are picks being attached we don't know about.) you always know you're going to get 50 to 70 cents on the dollar when you are cornered into trading a superstar, but they did ok with one of the game's most skilled big men and afflalo, who in case you can't tell, i believe is underrated.

So I'm reading on RealGM that the lakers are keeping gasol and still getting Dwight? Orl just gets a ton of crap. Hope it's wrong. I hate the nba

I knew that Bynum and Gasol being gone rumor was too good to be true. I wouldn't want those picks though, those other teams involved all should be decent for the forseeable future. I think I'd rather take the shot on Bynum and change from the Lakers if I were Orlando based on the current rumored deal.

It's laughably bad for orl and seems like the worst trade offer yet.

Lakers get handed another star. Ridiculous.

This deal makes no sense. Dwight + Hedo is just as good a package as Dwight + Harryngton. Cut out the parasitic middle babies and send both Bynum and Gasol to Orl. if that's what it's costing LA anyway.

That Orlando team would actually be pretty decent too if they weren't too stupid to let Anderson walk. They would literally eat the child-like teams for breakfast. Nom Nom Nom

ESPN is reporting the deal as being done. I thought the CBA was suppose to stop this crap. WHY do teams continue to just give LA great players. The GM from Orlando should be fired for making this trade. I you telling me that they couldn't have gotten a better trade with NJ before they traded away their sixth pick. All the draft picks are highly protected. Crap like this makes me want to just stop watching the NBA. The Lakers get Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, Jamison and the Jazz get Mo Williams and Marvin Williams. Boy I hope we get Josh Howard back so we can have a better off-season than the Lakers. I think I am going to puke.

screw this trade. I hope lakers fail this year which leads dwight to leave laker next year. I really mother effing hope that he signs with nets next year

This is absolute bull **** piled on top of mafia killings. Dwight Howard for Arod affaro and zero cap relief. Gaaaarrrrbageeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Oh, I forgot Mo Harkless. That totally changes the dynamics. Yeah, and a bunch of late first rounders. Totally worth it to pay off the mafia. Where is King David with his N.O. dealhammer?

I was all for a hard cap with the new cba and now we get this. Small markets got bought out by the bigger ones and just got more money from it. I know people keep saying they will still go to the big markets but no way in hell can a team go to 90 million with seven players if there was a hard cap. I would turn all this crap off If It wasn't for supporting our local team.

I dont know who I hate more at this moment. The Lakers for pulling another typical bs trade out of there butt. Denver for being part of bringing Howard to the western conference, or Orlando for even doing this trade.

Interesting stats From Locke and one reason why the jazz need to keep a big line up.

Al Jefferson has played 15 games in his career against Dwight Howard. In those 15 games Jefferson has won 6 of the 15, one of his highest winning percentages against a star big. Jefferson shots 50% in the 15 games and averages 17 pts and 8 rebs. They last played in 2010 - Jefferson had 16-8 and 21-8 shooting 17 of 29 in those two games. Over the last 3 games against Howard he has shot 26 of 42 (62%) v. Howard. In those 3 games Al has taken 3 free throws.

On the bright side - Neither Houston nor Orlando now have a good center. Go make a deal KOC!

Raja is just a placeholder. You actually don't need him for trade to work. I wouldn't give up any of Utah's Young 4, but everyone else is available. Both Jefferson and Millsap are better than Harrington, so the Lakers would obvioulsy prefer Utah being the trade partner. If Millsap won't sign an extension or give Utah the assurance that the Jazz are his top choice, then I would trade him over Jefferson. Jefferson will still be a free agent at the end of this season (no harm there) and a starting frontline of AI, Jefferson, and Favors is as good if not better than Millsap, Favors, and Jefferson. AI is also signed for this season and next, albeit at an expensive $15m, so one less free agent to deal with.

wow shrot term memory loss jefferson sucks and cant play defense

While that scenario is a longshot, if it does happen the Lakers are toast.

3 of their big 4 (Kobe, Nash, Bynum) are out of the picture soon due to their age. Bynum was both their most tradeable asset and their building block of the future had they decided to keep him. If (and it's a big if) Dwight decides to spurn the Lakers after this year (I am now rooting for Mark Cuban next offseason), then LA would have lost Bynum for a one year rental and be faced with the reality that their best 3 players are all almost done and the most tradeable one of the group (Gasol) will have lost some value due to the fact that he is one year older.

That would be an EXTREMELY grim situation for LA and something that would make Jazz fans flat-out giddy. With that being said, those sort of things never happen to the Lakers. Probably about a 99% chance he resigns.
