What's new

Why is Utah not in trade talks instead of Denver?

Although I would hate the idea of Howard returning to the Lakers after this season, I like this idea:

Assuming Dwight re-signs, rough math for Lakers' guaranteed commitments for '13-'14, first year of super tax: $92M for six players.

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS
Based on $75M tax line, Lakers would owe $34.3M in tax for those six players at $92M alone. That's $126M for half a team.

That just means more $$ for the Jazz next year.

If KOC pulls a similar move to the DWill move where he waited to deal with a team who missed out on getting their target, do you guys see a move you'd want to make with HOU?

Yes, I do. This is what I would like to see:

Houston gets-
Jefferson, Watson and a future first rounder

Jazz get-
RWhite, the Toronto pick and one salary dump from Houston

I don't know if Houston can trade any new guys since they just signed them. I am not sure what the new CBA says about it.

Beating the same drum but .........The Jazz simply will not trade Jefferson unless they get a solid big in return. Kanter is not ready folks.

I have heard that Favors doesn't want to play the center position but he can play it if needed. It doesn't need to be Kanter that plays that starting position. If it makes Favors feel better then say Millsap is playing center and Favors is playing the PF position.

Wonder how likely it is Pau will be moved.

Kobe won't let Pau be moved, if the Lakers win the championship. It remains to be seen if Howard re-signs or if Dallas can swoop in and sign him as a free agent. If Lakers don't win the title and re-sgn Howard, then I could see them moving Pau.

Who is Millsap going to guard on the lakers? Dwight or Gasol? We played better against the lakers the last two years then we did the last ten and that was because we got bigger. With what we have now I don't fear the lakers as much as I did. I would hate to go with no offense and have our team smaller again.

Orlando pooped the bed on this trade. They didn't get the cap space and young players that Houston was offering, and they didn't get the picks that NJ was offering.

Arron Afflalo, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless, Christian Eyenga, Josh McRoberts and a first round pick from each of the other teams along with the Warriors' second round pick in 2013

Vucevic and Harkless have potential, but Afflalo still has a lot of years on his deal and three 25-30 1st round picks??? The Orlando GM that just got the job, should be fired.

The Jazz should look at the Lakers and start the big frontline. Size-wise (not skill-wise), Jefferson-Favors-Millsap is equivalent to Howard-Gasol-World Peace. Utah, like the Lakers, should use that power and size to their advantage and not be afraid of being too slow.

I agree but most people on this board seem to want a favors millsap starting line up and trade jefferson for scraps. Size of Marvin is a plus as well. I think we match up pretty good against the lakers but it is too early to see. I think in the end age is still going to catch up with them.

Well I think this is a great trade for the Lakers. Wonder why the Lakers keep winning championships? Teams trade great players to them for Laker crap (Magic Johnson, Jabbar, Shaq, Chamberlain, Gasol and now Howard). They are definitely the team to beat in the West and I am sure Lebron "said crap" when he heard about the trade. Who cares if the Lakers don't re-sign Howard. They will rebuild anyway in two years when Kobe, Nash, Gasol are gone.
