Why is Wiggins so hyped?

You cant teach being an elite athlete. All the aspects of his game will improve as he is coached by the best basketball minds in the world.

He is also very long, plays great defense, rebounds well at his position, has an amazing spin move, has nice floaters, is very fast running the floor, has a nice looking jumper, improved his shooting from outside as the season wore on, and has a good attitude.

But ya, all he can do is dunk

Thank you! Finally a post with some substance about what Wiggins brings to the table besides the standard condescending/patronizing arguments like "he's going to be awesome".

I have been watching some highlights, as I never really did get to see him play in a game due to work, and he looks like he has something in the highlights, but then again everyone has a highlight reel.

CJ Miles was touted as being a freak athlete, by JF homers at least. DeShawn Stevenson was drafted based on his athleticism. Many great athletes just don't pan out the way you might expect them to. If we can get Wiggins I hope he does pan out, if not I hope he turns out to be CJ Miles Part 2.

So what do the Wiggins supporters see as his floor anyway? Total bust? Solid role player? What is the worst case scenario barring injury or something?

I didn't want every Kansas game this year, but I've watched a bunch of Wiggins highlights and don't understand why he'd be taken over Parker or Emblid. I get it - he's freakishly athletic and can jump out of the stadium. If I was Dennis Lindsay I'd have him as #3 on the big board. To me his offensive game looks so raw The majority of his highlights were dunks, putbacks, and awkward looking floaters. Can someone explain to me how he's so different than any other freakishly athletic 6'8 forward that's been drafted over the past 5 years?

The only thing your qualified to do from watching highlights and no games is suck your thumbs.

Anyone out there think his low end is lower than Wallace? I seriously don't know and am just gathering info on the kid. I shy away from claims that athleticism automatically means all-star and the like though. We have seen plenty of athletes flame out.

To be honest, i love wiggins and would do whatever we could to get him.

Having said that, i dont see him as a sure thing ala lebron james. He does have some bust potential and the concerns of him being passive are very real

I see enough skills, combined with length, speed, and athleticism, to where i would take him number one overall without even thinking twice about it. (And im a huge fan of embiid and parker too)

Because he has ideal size for the 3, is athletic as hell, is a lockdown defender right now, and has some amazing offensive skill. Oh, and he's barely scratched the surface of his potential. I really like Wiggins. However, he's going to go #1.

Wiggins has a large mouth bass kind of mouth.... like avery johnson
