Why isnt Favors guarding Duncan?

Your right, i was referring to favors. Kanter looked so lost in just the few minutes he was in. I imagine him at one of al Jeffersons family reunions with so many deep south black people around him.

Haha. Kanter just has to play the pick n roll softer and get into a more compact stance. Watching him failing to contain Parker off the pick while flailing his arms around is embarrassing to watch.

Whenever I see Favors chasing Bonner or for that matter any jump shooting 4 in the league The Jazz are playing right into the opposing team's hands.

The answer is obvious but won't be acheived until this series is over - at the earliest.

Kanter needs to develop more lift; he has almost no shotblocking ability, which would be ok if he were a power forward, like Malone, but not acceptable for a center.

Try or not try, Jefferson played better defense overall than Kanter did in game 1.

I understand what our saying, but i don't agree. Kanter is supposed to stay with Parker until the point guard recovers. He did that. Sometimes he stays to long, but in game 1 the refs were letting Duncan set perpetually moving screens. I saw Harris get blown up several times by Duncan and pushed him almost 10 feet out of the play. Kanter was forced to stay with Parker much longer than he should. In summary, I thought Kanter's defense was much better than Jefferson's in game 1. Now that is not saying much because I don't think Jefferson gave any effort at all.

Sorry folks, Kanter is a non-factor in this series. Favors could give Duncan some problems but don't be suprised to see Duncan get him in early foul trouble if they do in fact put Favors on him

Favors is definitely the better option to defend Tim Duncan 1 on 1. Since this is a team game, you also have to think about what the Spurs would do. I am a Spurs fan btw. The Jazz need to figure out a way to keep Favors guarding the paint. He is easily their best shot blocker. The Spurs play a lot of pick and roll when Parker and Duncan are on the floor with Duncan setting the screen on Parkers man. This will draw Favors outside of the paint and Parker won't have much contesting presence at the rim if Favors isn't quick enough to cover Parkers drive. He could also get stuck on a switch and left guarding Parker on the perimeter. With Bonner/Diaw also on the court with Duncan (they are both have 3pt shots that a defense has to honor) it sucks the second big out of the paint and there is no shot blocking left inside. That is the same problem that the Lakers were having with the Spurs offense. Bynum couldn't stick with Parker on the perimeter, Gasol was reluctant to help because his man would shade out to the 3 pt line, and the play would also leave Duncan wide open from midrange at the FT line (He has been hitting a ton of those this season).
