What's new

Why no Love for Trevor Booker?

I think he's terrific for this young team. I've been a fan of his since early last season, for all of the reasons you mentioned. I do think we should hold onto him at LEAST through this season, until we can see what Trey Lyles becomes.

But, frankly, we should hold onto him for even longer, if possible. He's the only real bad *** on our team, and he provides leadership and the kind of scrappiness that we lost when DMC was allowed to walk a couple seasons back. Booker's an asset all the way.

Good topic to bring up, OP.

So we renounce booker, sign green and have 3 nba bigs, (being generous With lyles here) like 6 wings, and 5 or so pg's?

Where did I mention renouncing Booker to sign anyone? Personally, I don't see any great FA possibilities that are realistic. Trades are a different story.

I like Booker a lot. His sticking up for the franchise is reason enough but if Lyles is ready to play and the Jazz bring over Pleiss then I don't see too many minutes for him. I would like the Jazz to pick up his option if there are no reasonable upgrades. I will always be a fan of his just like Jeremy Evans who most likely won't be back.

I like Booker. He's a capable backup and he played well when Favors was away for a few games. He's nasty and I think he still still has room to improve.

The bottom line is that Booker is a good backup, but the catch is that his contract is perfect for trading or use as an asset for DL.

It's not necessarily that we should shop to get rid of Booker, but if we could get a good player for our team we could use Booker and his contract if necessary.
This. I like Booker. I think he's great for bringing more nastiness to the team. He's limited in what he brings from a skills standpoint, though.

It's implied if you advocate signing Green. I don't see too many other ways to free up enough money.

Booker's value is similar to Jingles ... great energy and locker room guy. Perfect guys to come off the bench and give the team a lift. Booker contributes athleticism and Jingles, basketball IQ.

And they both bring the mother******* attitude. Keep both. It'll be worth it.

Nothing is implied. Fish responded to a specific post in which I talked about trades. I haven't really posted much about FA signings other than to say Utah isn't likely getting anyone significant, which is why I think our best use of cap space is to make a trade in which we bring back more salary than we send out.

Love is for the weak minded. I like Booker, but not at the expense of the Jazz. Truth of the matter is Booker is limited skills wise and we can't afford to be blindly loyal. Must do what's best for the business of basketball.

Dennis Lindsey was asked about Booker and was very brief about Booker. Seemed kind of weird. Might just be reading into it too much, but it seems like Booker is going to be cut.

Trevor Booker question starts at 19:30.

He basically says emotionally he was great for the year. Said nothing about his actual basketball skills or play.

Just the way he spoke, it seemed like he was preparing Jazz fans for emotional disappointment that Booker may not be with the team this year.

I'm a huge fan of his. The toughness and passion he brings to the team is more important than people realize.

There was a game against the Bulls where Jimmy Butler kind of got into it with Hayward. Booker just shoved him out of the way and helped Hayward up. After that Butler backed down. The Jazz need players like that. Gobert is one but he's too important to be an enforcer. Booker is perfect for it.

Plus he called out Kanter for the bitch he is, which is another huge plus for him.

I'm not even sure why a 4th big needs to be amazing skills wise. They usually are energy guys.
