Why Rondo is Rondo

It will go a long way to explaining the psyche of Rajon Rondo. Did you know he is basically a genius?

Good at math, bad at people:

....being good at math doesn't make him a "genius!" Basketball wise he's got some talent but is basically a JERK....in addition to a pathetically poor outside shooter! Dallas blew up there playoff chances by signing this clown without doing there homework....and now, for all practical purposes, this nut-job is through as an NBA player! Oh, wait! There will always be other brain dead marijuana smokin owners, GM's and coaches that will think they can change this guy and make him fit in with there system! You probably have some clowns on this board that think the Jazz should pick him up, sign him to a big contract and hope he leads them to the promise land! Sorry for this rant....but I'm already disgusted with today's NBA, (as you all know) a professional league that has less than 10% of its teams that are even "watchable!"

To the best of my knowledge, he has a genius IQ. I've seen this ESPN article brought up by my local broadcast media, probably because we're in the Boston market. And it was stated at that time that Rondo has a genius IQ. So that's the reason I stated it that way. I think the article makes it fairly clear we're dealing with a man with above average intelligence to a significant degree anyway. It also seems he has a photographic memory, which helps keep him a step ahead in terms of perceived intelligence. In any event, he likely qualifies for membership in Mensa.

Nor was I actually trying to compliment the guy. I knew somebody very similar. Made me feel subhuman frequently. Most obnoxious person I ever knew. Mensa member. Just because he's a jerk doesn't mean he doesn't have the IQ.

In other words, I was only going by the "standard" view of genius as IQ's in the top 1%, or above 140.
Apparently, he does, but I can't prove it. It's the IQ he has, not his particular gift with math that I refer to here. Pretty simple concept.

...well, he's not a "genius" at basketball and if he does have a photographic memory he's in the wrong business according to what I researched on the internet! According to my sources he should pursue detective work-clues that are over looked, forensic science, lawyer-remember cases and laws without struggling as much, doctor, especially surgeon-mainly knowledge and memorization, security-walk through a home or business and think for the rest of the day any possible weak spot to up security, and the list goes on. You would think professional basketball would be on that list, since he would be able to remember plays the coach wants him to run....but, oh wait!....he prefers NOT to run plays or follow coaches instructions! I stick by my post...he's a big time JERK who will soon be unemployed...if he chooses to try and play NBA basketball!

Lol, whatever, I did not ask or expect anyone to change their opinion of the guy. The only source I could find in the public domain listed his IQ as 178!! That is way the hell up there with Einstein, lol. And it would not surprise me a bit. I know a guy whose IQ is 180. Famous actor, academy award nominee, went to high school with him. He is very similar in personality. A math wiz, and you won't meet anyone more arrogant and impossible to work with. He has that reputation now, but it's not like you can tell just by looking at a guy or talking to him once or twice. I really don't care what your opinion of Rondo is. My only point was technical: he DOES have an IQ in the genius category. What the hell can I say? I was right in my statement. What the hell is the big deal?? You would think I was on here complimenting the guy. Calling him a genius is not a complement. It is a simple statement of fact. No more then that. His IQ is apparently 178. That's a very high IQ.

You can "stick by your post" until you're blue in the face. I never asked you to do otherwise, now did I? Did I??
You can hate him to your heart's content. It has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.

Furthermore, almost everyone who read the article agreed it offered insight on the guy. That is all the only reason I started the post. I did not start it to initiate a "love fest" for the guy. You act as if I am trying to promote him, elevate him. Like I said, your opinion is your own. Why would I even want to dispute your opinion or how you feel about him? The article simply offers insight on the guy. You stated his math skill does not make him a genius. But, sorry, he IS a genius. And you stick to your opinion. Why would that be a problem at all?

I don't care if tomorrow he proves incapable of dribbling a basketball. I don't care if he shoots 2% from the free throw line. I don't care if he ever plays another game as a pro. None of that has a thing to do with his IQ. Which was not the point of the thread in the first place, but since for some inexplicable reason the thread became a debate over what constitutes a genius IQ, and does it apply to one Rajon Rondo, I did my best to simply address that obsrrvation. Adolph Hitler had a higher IQ then I do. Does not mean admitting as much makes him a hero in my eyes, lol....

I do believe this thread was relevant to the section of the Jazz Forum where I posted it. The impression I have now is that I am being told it was very wrong for me to even post the article. All this outright anger because I posted an insightful article about this one guy. Yet I see him being discussed on many pro forums lately. No surprise. Yet here, anger that the thread even exists, by the sounds of it.

carolinajazz, why not work on having me banned for having started this thread? I can live with it. Maybe I should leap off the roof for this outrageous transgression on my part?

Not only is it higher than Einstein, it is also completely ********! I can ace every IQ test on the internet. I must be smarter than Einstein too!

I took the Mensa test. They never told me my IQ. They only tell you if you're in the top 2% or not, and if so, they give you a membership card that you have to pay for annually even though you get nothing whatsoever in return. So I'm forced to assume this is Rondo's IQ based on one of those online tests you see in banner ads!

Mensa seems so ****ing stupid. My goodness.

Believing in IQ tests is actually a great proof of stupidity. Being smart is being able to adapt to the unknown, it can't be measured with a test. I wish we all throw away those ****ty tests and learn to live together.

You can get your IQ scores from the mensa tests. It was just an option to request it when I did it.

I'll have to contact them and ask. But back when I took it a few years ago, I was told that since every IQ test is different, they now use a percentile system instead.

I was just describing the guy by one of his attributes. His IQ places him at the end of the spectrum called genius. It's only an attribute. No different, in principal, then the color of his eyes is an attribute. I just thought a poster acted ticked at me for describing him by an accurate attribute. If it's a notable attribute, which it is, it's because it's rare among humans. His height is an attribute. If he were 10 feet tall, that would be notable, probably the tallest human ever. When I simply explained that I'm speaking of his IQ, he is a genius, poster comes back still ticked off at me. Sure, I'm taking it personal. I'm only describing an attribute for God's sake. Instead, I get "I'm sticking to my position". Well, what exactly are we arguing about that we're speaking of positions?

My bad I guess. But I want to suggest that if someone objects to an accurate description of one notable attribute, just don't act like you're pissed at me about it. It ain't my GD fault that he scores genius on the IQ scale, any more then I'm to blame for the color of his eyes.

I've never taken a standardized placement test including the high school two. What drives people to waste time on them?

....I apologize if it came across as an a front to you in anyway, shape or form! Did not mean to make you look as the bad guy in taking sides with Rondo and his attitude! You merely presented the facts as were stated in the article you posted. I've done similar things myself on this board! I was just ranting on Rondo being called a "genius" in life or in his approach to basketball! I suppose the word "genius" is relative in relation to how one views a "genius!" From purely a basketball state of mind, the guy is a puke! In fact, his attitude was so p-poor that reports now have it that the entire Mavericks team has voted to NOT give him a playoff share, which would be a first in NBA history! Again, my sincere apology for putting you in a bad light!

Carolina proving once again that he is not a genius.
