The kid got turned in by a hacker who was "backed into a corner, ethically". Ethically? This guy obviously saw an opportunity to get his name in the news and jumped at it.
As for the Soldier? He's lucky that he isn't brought up on charges of treason.
Believe it or not, hackers are often strongly opinionated geeks. If the guy felt wrong about the leaks, why is it surprising he turned the soldier in. I'd do the same thing and I don't have any qualms about breaking in someone's system. IMO this soldier should be tried for treason.

I just find it a bit ironic that the same guy that had no morale dilemma hacking into Yahoo! and doing, god knows what, but what this kid did was wrong. Kind of a selective moral compass. The things is, I strongly disagree with both the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and I can't believe he would do things like this. In his defense, the information was less than "Top Secret", which means that there isn't danger of giving away troop movements. The one thing that was disturbing is that the report gave away intel on the US force's knowledge of the Taliban using SAM's against them, which now that the Taliban knows, will allow them to change their tactics.
