My other thought is that kneeling is now so cliched. It was novel last year. Almost like touchdown celebrations, teams and athletes are trying to do something different (like staying in the locker room). If fans are offenddd, just quit making such a big fuss. Like internet trolls, if you don't feed them, they'll go away. If no one gives these attention whores what they want, the kneeling will stop. Let's have constructive intercourse, not ineffective grandstanding. Of course, we also need a commander in chief who is presidential instead of one who tweets like a 10-yr old boy.

Why even have the national anthem at sporting events? It's entertainment. Do we stand for the anthem before a movie? I can see it for the Olympics or World Cups, when athletes are supposed to be representing their countries. But half our team is international. Respect the game, respect each other. But just do away with anthems.

If the flag and the anthem are about dead soldiers who sacrificed themselves for freedom, then why do they need to cross-brand that with popular sports, athletes, Coke, shoe brands, and local banks? Did those soldiers die for the freedom of markets, or people?

Why not hold separate rallies on another occasion instead of this insistence on linking nationalism with products? Because really, this threat to refrain from buying the NBA or NFL products extends to anything that is cross-branded with dead soldiers.

What does that have to do with playing an anthem? Tax dollars are used because the city/county believes having a pro team will create jobs and bring in revenue. Is the national anthem played before concerts, conventions and other activities in the arena or stadium (outside of national holidays like the 4th of July)?

Tell you what...for all those fans who get their knickers in a twist and think they're so patriotic by criticizing these players...punch the guy next to you who remains seated during the anthem eating or drinking. Swat the cell phone out of the hands of the fan who is texting or checking other scores. Fans are FAR worse than the players at disrespecting the national anthem.

well cnn and left wing media sources, complained of racism. it was non sotp coverage for a week because miami signed a worse player than kapernick just becuase the bagage keaperneck broyught.
