Hayward averaging 20.3 ppg, 6 rpg, 5 apg & 1 spg on 46% FG, 79% FT and 34% 3 pt.

That is a 100% increase in scoring, rebounds and assists over his carrer averages while being 5% worse on 3s and 1% worse on FTs.

Kanter is averaging 16.4 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1 apg on 53% FG and 88% FT

That is up from career averages of 6.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, .3 apg on 52% FG and 75% FT

Same thing with Kanter. Big increases across the board.

I don't know but they're already paying attention to Gobert as just missing the rookie ladder. He could be ROTY if Kanter or Favors go down (Gordon forbid).

It will probably go to Anthony Davis. That dude looks like the real deal.

That's fine. He has shown up but with the improvements a couple of our guys have shown they deserve to be in the discussion at least.

I don't think they look at % increase from career numbers...Hayward averages have steadily climbed every season, it's not like he's making a HUGE jump from his numbers from last season. And I think they do take into account the success of the team. Although Hayward is putting up good numbers, it is not translating to the the success of the team, similiar to why Big Al was never an all-star (good stats poor team records).

Kanter has to be the front-runner at the moment. Hayward's progression has been a little too steady for him to get it.

Considering that Kanter might end up averaging 18 and 9 this season on great shooting percentages, I think it will be between him and Anthony Davis.

I thought Hay scored almost 15 a game last season? How is that a 100% increase in scoring?

I think that Kanter and Hayward will both be candidates, but I bet Anthony Davis takes the award.

I've always thought it was kind of a silly award anyway. It really should have a rule that the player isn't still on a rookie contract if they want to capture the true spirit of the award.

If Davis continues playing as is I think he has to be the lead candidate to win. But Hayward and Kanter deserve some votes and to be mentioned. The have both taken big steps forward.

They'll be in the running, but Davis takes it home in the end.

Evan Turner and Eric Bledsoe also come to mind as candidates.
