Think about it...if not for a brain fart loss to the Lakers and the buzzer beating loss to the Celtics, we really haven't been outplayed by anyone and should be on a 11 game winning streak. I might have Kool-Aid dripping down the side of my mouth, but whatever, Winning 13 out of 18 is definitely doable...

Snyder wont because of how Atlanta did this year but Coach of the Year should happen, especially if we hit .500.

If this team had tried winning the first 1/3 of the season playoffs would be happening this year.

Although I am glad we get 1 more lottery pick then we are off and running in the playoffs for the next decade!

I'm pretty sure they tried, but the combination of learning Coach Snyder's system and Rudy coming off the bench held them back a bit.

I disagree, Snyder was much more concerned about learning than winning. Supposedly he ran a lot of practices during this time and the team was worn out sore for lots of games early. He also pulled players to talk to them even when they were playing well just to help learn the process. Obviously the players were trying to win but Snyder did not care about winning and even said as much in interviews.

I do think it was the right choice from Snyder, since we are better off now.

You think they didn't try winning??? New coach. New system. New players. And not to mention, this team only won 25 games last year. This sort of thing doesn't happen overnight. The fact that we are even discussing the possibility of a .500 season is amazing. To be honest, if this team gets anywhere nearly 40 wins, it's quite story as it is.

Regardless of what he may have said, and even if it wasn't the top priority, there isn't a coach of a major-league professional team that doesn't care about winning.

Getting to .500 would be really tough, although doable. I'm utterly shocked at how well we've played since Kanter was traded. After our Nov/Dec slump there was no way I thought we would even flirt with 40 wins on the year, very exciting. I'm going to the game tomorrow and can't wait to see this new defense play. And next season....playoffs
Are you shocked we have a better record than OKC over that stretch? DEFENSE wins games!

The only reason the team is in the position that they are now is because of the system and Quin's insistence that they learn the system. You're suggesting that had they not done this that somehow they would have won more and made the playoffs???? Ridiculous!

I disagree with that. I think if you prioritize something over winning than you are not trying to win. Not really important though as I am pleased with how the team is playing and the future and what Snyder has done with this team is a big part of why we are winning now and will in the future.

Thats what you quoted so I think that question was already answered.

You said that they would be in playoffs in they had "tried winning". Are you backing off that statement now? If you think it was the right choice from Snyder, you can't believe that they would have made the playoffs.

No, I think this team could be in the playoff hunt or closer to the playoffs, but not as good as they are right now and are going to be in the future.

I'm starting to think I might fall short with my original 38 win prediction at the beginning of the season.
Last night's game is the cause.

We'll agree to disagree and be happy that the Jazz are kicking butt currently.
