There will be no Jazz deal this weekend. It makes you wonder what the FO is actually doing? Do they have a plan? Are we going to lose Sap & Al for nothing? If an electric train was going a 100 mph east and the wind was blowing 100 to the west, which way would the smoke blow?
I think you mean Thursday? Anyway, if the Jazz go into full blown re-tooling/rebuilding mode, they'll have a head start and still a ton of assets to work with. They've got a ton of talent at nearly all positions, save for PG, and they can work with that. In most other years, I'd be 100% livid that about the prospects of both Jefferson and Millsap walking, but I'm more comfortable with it this year.
Something else to consider is the Jazz have the least amount of cash committed against the cap next season. That maybe valuable when teams look to dump contracts to get under the cap as the luxury tax becomes heavier in the next few years. It also allows the Jazz to do TPEs and bypass the usual math with trades. That is something to consider.
As much as we complain about Greg not opening the wallet, the team is in a good position as it stands. I'd prefer to get something back for Millsap and/or Jefferson, but if not, then there's a win there to in the form of that capspace and freeing up time for our younger players. I'd love to get Bledsoe, but if not, then meh. It won't ruin my day.
As far as today? No. if a deal comes, it'll be tomorrow just prior to the deadline.
