Will there be American invasion in Syria?

Admittedly know very little on this topic. Please continue posts. Ill try to figure out how this relates to Kosovo (my parents home country) in the mean time

PS: Turkish posters are on point in this thread. I think as a Turk, you really get a nice perspective of the intricate workings of western military intervention

Well someone is going to. History shows that. Some nation/tribe/religion/group will rise up and take power and be a dominate influence. Human nature.

So, if not America, who?

No one, no one, no one!

Again it's the whole point of my opposition of US politics. Everyone takes a side in life right, my side is always against whoever the oppressors are.

I understand what you want to gain with that question and you take a realistic/pragmatic stand while you are asking that. But why in the hell I would want or prefer someones to have that much(ridiculous and unnecessary) power? I'm an idealist who try to see the real world as it is and act against it as it requires but my ideas always remain in idealistic way. No one should have this much power and I don't have a preference of any nation or country over a hypothetical question.

Btw, history proves nothing, future may bring anything, it's not a given that the humanity will be always miserable like today.

It has nothing to do with if you want someone to have it. Someone will period. Mongols, Romans, Greeks, England, Russia, America..all have been that roces in the "known" world at one time or another.

I would love a future where it is no longer needed or wanted. Sadly that day will simply never come.

The British parliament just rejected the PM's call to take action on Syria. Whatever the US does, it will be without the support of GB. It doesn't mean much militarily, but in terms of public/foreign relations, this may carry some weight.

They all had slaves too.

Is a world without state sanctioned slavery unrealistic?

I was quite pleased when I read that. Good on the British. I am torn on my stance to be honest. The American President needs to be shown as living up to his word. He took a very public stand on this issue and it has coem time to pay the piper. The problem I have is that I disagree with what would have to happen.

Maybe I just need to learn to disassociate keeping your word and honor with world politics.

If every one thinks like that, that will be the truth.

So I'm with the hopeful people on this, for the sake and future of the humanity.

State sanctioned slavery? Perhaps. No slavery at all? Unrealistic.

That right there is the rub. The need for a military, weapons, hard power...does not have to come froma rival country. It could be driven by religion, economy, resources, land, private entities...

Now your being insincere.

His argument was against super powers or excessive power. I don't think he ever stated that there would be no power.

It is truth. No matter how much I wish it to be so I recognize that not everyone else wants that same thing. I hope for it to but i am under to delusion that it will happen.

The human race if truly united would be the most powerful thing on this planet. Think what we could accomplish with all that unneccesary crap out of the way.

No I am sincere honest. My point is that because of the world we live in there will always be a group/nation that feels the need to be dominate. To be the most powerful. How they are dominate could change. Thru military, religion, economic oppression...but there will always be that strive to be that group no matter what.

My point is that there are a vast amount of reasons behind why a group could reach for that dominance.

You are just thinking too conventional and unprogressive. Just looking at the leaps of advancement of human history, it took thousands of years to edge certain basic epochs, then it took just a few centuries to make industrial revolutions and then computing and communication eras came.

Lol, the whole world is just now beginning to get to know each other in a real manner. Internet and the communication possibilities of the new times is essential of a future that could be build by the whole world for the whole world. I believe in that future and would work for it, not deny and renounce it(or even the possibility of it) from the rough.

Tell you what, if at some point this happens and you are right and people are able to put aside their differences than I will whole heartedly take you for drinks. With a giant smile on my face.

As for advancement. Yes things have dramtically changed over human history. B ut some things never change. Such as religious and tribal (countries now) strife.

Whoa, whoa, let me make it clear, sir. I didn't promise it in your life time. We will both die in the same crappy world of today.

On the other hand, we can still go for some drinks. No homo and I will have just some apple juice. We could argue whether some things never change or not while we are drinking.
